WP eagle regular Carl Broadbent now you
may be familiar with Carl he often
leaves comments on my videos and he's a
regular in the chat room on the live
streams which by the way are every
single Tuesday you may have also seen
Carl over on the income school channel
which as you know is one of my favorite
YouTube channels he was on there because
he won one of their competitions and the
prize was for Jim and Ricky to fly over
to the UK and meet up with Carl and give
him a whole load of free tips advice and
consultancy all around his affiliate
marketing websites Carl's got a number
of different affiliate marketing
websites his main one is a fishkeeping
website it's doing around 20,000
pageviews every single month which is
growing month by month and as you can
imagine with that kind of traffic it
generates a reasonable income so during
the call we cover lots of different
things he talks to me about creating
content and how he comes up with ideas
drops in a few useful SEO tips he talks
about you know how he came up with the
idea for his niche what he was doing
before he had affiliate marketing
websites his favorite youtubers
basically we cover a lot of stuff this
call is packed full of useful
information I think you're really going
to enjoy it so yeah on that note I think

we've been a regular on the channel
quite some time often frequent the live
streams which are now on a Tuesday by
the way everyone if you've if you've
missed that and you will so regular
within our Facebook groups by the way
everyone find links to these things in
the description below but yeah but today
we're gonna have a chat you gonna tell
us a little bit about one of your
affiliate websites that you have quite a
while we're going to talk about income
school as well because you won their
competition and we're also going to talk
a little bit about a new service and you
beginning and tell us a little bit about
your affiliate website you know how old
it is well it's all about how you came
up with the idea all that kind of stuff

my main site excuse me was fish keep in
forever comm site that I've been
interested in for quite some time I was
30 years ago now I you run a tropical
fish shop okay yeah and you know they're
kind of when they say when you've done
fish keeping you always kind of stick
with it in some way or other
I'm a fisherman for a while and and I
was going to the website niche website
building through watching one of your
videos that in fact I'm just kind of
been given my redundancy a firm have
been working for several years came on
or you know what we're gonna do now side
looking at job hunting as you do and as
you start be lovely to work from home
just Google and YouTube working from
home or you know how to earn money from
you know online and I kept winning y'all
but when your video so y'all to tourists
thankful to you think he's from
something like 3 or 4 hours long oh come
here to create a website and I actually
you sat there and made it just literally
played it on my thumb and step by step
just made it Mon phone was playing your
video and under the laptop I built a
website I could weave four or five hours
wife walks in I'm like over build a
website like what you know capital
websites along
and it was just around it an interest
that had at that time
I just thought nothing of it applied for
another job got another job and you know
carried on and suddenly you started
writing a few articles for this website
and she started taking off so I didn't
doing that actually got got a couple of
websites on the girl and started to make
a little bit money from her phone didn't
something in this you know you can build
a website in four hours and you know
Saavik you wait what else they didn't
make anything major you know I mean mom
some moms for in maybe you know dollar
or something but it should give me the
book to shade is a potential that maybe
it does work what all these people are
talking about her line it's not all just
a big scam absolutely did you know you
know a few website well probably several
probably close down more websites and
I've actually made you know kept you
know the process is little it is yeah
yeah so you know I did that and then saw
the potential in it and then started
looking for a niche that I knew a bit
about really you know my selfish keep in
you know 30 years ago and I was quite
had I'd quite like a good business it
was one of the biggest aquarium stalls
like in the UK well I used to do some
speeches and some talks and traveled on
sit around the world but certainly
around Europe or traveled and went to
very various trade shows and things and
I thought you know that's probably the
area that I know the most about which
you know when you build in a niche
website and ideally you need to have
some knowledge of the topic that you're
writing about yeah I think that's a good
tip I mean I mean not everyone I'm c2z
niche in something that they're into but
it certainly helps if it is something
that you know a little bit about all
you've got a bit of passion or a bit of
an interest in because well it'll
motivate you to work on the site for a
start and you know when you're getting
articles created and you're planning
articles and your content you know
you've got some knowledge that you can
draw on and actually had something yeah
so yeah that's that's how you chose your
niche I mean I think everyone knows your
site it's ok to share the URL is it and
yeah keep sure and Anaka just keep it
forever con there'll be a link in the
description to the site and how many how
many articles have you got on there now
much content how big is the site a
in terms of a niche site what probably
is still a very small site and a lot of
people think of me sites being you know
20 30 plus is a small site
I actually think hundreds of articles is
a small niche site and Ito's it has well
over 250 let's just say but yes in the
hundreds yeah so yeah I'd say that's
quite a big site but I know where you're
coming from because those either follow
my channel may give me and also those of
you that follow income school will know
that Cole won their competition and
income school guys came over to visit
him and help him with his website and
they like lots and lots of articles I
mean how many articles do they recommend
that you add to a site and they said the
total amounts that site would be minimum
of 1,200 1,200 articles Wow yeah we gave
me a hit list of kind of the ones to go
for straight away the ones that we have
the most chance of ranking for to get a
site started and you can each split it
down into categories so they first they
said to me right right right a category
for every topic you can think of in
fishkeeping
so it was equipment and fish species
plant species and then we broke it down
even further okay so within plant
species how many plants is there yeah
and that can give you number so they
give me a spreadsheet you put all the
titles in pressable and it went bang
this is you're gonna have to write X
amount of articles before they kind of
said before the website would be
finished well I don't believe it will
ever be finished but they kind of said
this is what you need to write to cover
every topic in that niche Wow yeah I do
think a website ever finish you can
always add something else can't you can
always add another article um I guess
some people be watching a thing well
that's a lot of articles how on earth
and we're going to come up with you know
enough ideas to write about you know
1200 different things and but as you
kind of touched on there is the key
they're just kind of you know
go into the detail once you've you know
found something break it down even
further and then break it down even
further again yeah absolutely
once you start writing one article you
get that publish you kind of naturally
lynx-o
so we've in the article you might be
talking about you know how to set set up
a fish tanker then it'll say you know
and you need to add some live plants
they go right plants then you're looking
at that and then you go how to grow
plants right okay and I'll grow a plant
so then to the need fertilizer there's
an over article and it's like lightens
it up there's another article and do I
need any tools to plant these plants in
the gravel yeah there's an Ascalon
aquarium plant tools yeah you just often
often Anthony she she's met never ended
I mean my my spreadsheet which is my
live I live and die by my spreadsheet
and - girls III get to the point where I
think this is fully not now I'm nearly
you know um you know fifty percent
through my spreadsheet and then also add
another 30 40 articles to it it's just
girls and girls and groupers let's just
talk a little bit more about income
school before we move on and then we're
gonna talk a little bit more about
coming up with ideas for content because
it kind of leads nicely onto your new
service but so the income school guys
came over I will put a link to their
video in the description again so you
can watch the full video with them
coming to Carl's house and and all the
rest of it but yeah what what was the
main takeaways that you got from sitting
down with the guys and the main thing
that I realized about Rickon Jim and the
way they go about their sites is they're
just really structured the way they do
their sites and build their sites that
have a plan and the format and kind of a
structure for for building them a lot of
people might see some their videos and
think you know they're quite wacky and
crazy and they just throw this content
on there but the dirt it's very very
structured and and that's what they said
to me from day one you need to learn how
to track your articles how many words
you've got on each articles how it links
out of water articles so then basically
just give me a really good structure
around how to build a website and map I
think that's the biggest thing I took
from them they did it a little bit about
the theme in the look of the cyber to be
fair it was more about just you know how
are you gonna go about building this
website what content you're gonna pour
on it how are you gonna find that
content and are we gonna track what
you've written and things like that so
that was those those kind of processes
that allow you to them just
on the site you got a structure you got
a framework that you can you can work
with yeah because I mean once wouldn't
you get all the kind of 50 articles I
mean just simply linking out to each
article is really difficult you know he
starts to forget what you've written
yeah and I do that now I mean I do
Google search now by clicking on I'd
remember right in that article I mean
you know when you like 250 plus articles
you just forget it when you trap link to
it and I'll use a piece of software that
helps me link out through my content but
in the beginning I know people can't
afford to do that so if you're very
difficult so you need to track at least
on a spreadsheet you can scan down the
garage ever mentioned fish food I've got
an ask about fish food you use account
that we actually wrote the ten best fish
food and you link out to that so yeah
structuring it is he's definitely the
best advice they gave me yeah because
really powerful all that stuff when it
comes to SEO and get it ranked and yeah
the the linking between your articles
has a really big effect on that and it's
a it's really easy to lose track I did
that just the other day and I've only
got 50 or 60 ask who's on my site so far
but I had an article come back in from
my writers and then I realized oh I've
already done that article I published it
a few months ago so you had keeping
track of everything is a great team a
piece of content the other Danny came
back this looks really familiar and I
love to write I've got the same piece of
content already written yeah I know what
you suck can do with this content that
I've K mean it's been written by
different writers so it's actually
didn't be a content but it's on the same
subject wondering maybe I could use it
as a as a guest article maybe kind of
send it off to science that they might
want it and then they could maybe think
back I don't Rights is that right to the
website and when I was at Mac kind of a
peek at a lot of writers on the website
they all shared one spreadsheet and then
the most difficult thing was getting
them to update the spreadsheet so though
usually I write it then the next day
that another writer would send the same
piece through and it'd be the first
writing up dead spreadsheet so you know
that that was a bit of paint yeah so
that kind of leads nicely onto writers
who do you I mean how do you get your
content created who writes it for you
and how do you manage all that and how
do you find writers all that kind of
stuff I found most of the right
or work just based advertising on their
write a blog writers wanted I find it
really good on a work because you can
actually specifically say what you want
what details you want so you want
Sabrina petty sure you want something a
technician you want you want to be at
see some of their content that the
written you want to see what experience
they've got so it's really good because
you can you can put a really big list of
requirements on there how who wouldn't
you want to apply for the right position
but like everybody I've tried many many
writers and my peak had five writers
writing every reader for fishkeeping
every single day constantly and that
just became a chart there it was
actually more work than it was worth so
I've narrowed it down now and I have two
main writers now that work when I say
full-time that produce as much content
as they can and I've kind of got the two
best out of probably the ten or eleven
I've tried oh yeah you have to kind of
burn for a few to find the good ones
that kind of where you can have a few
dud writers and that's just part of the
the process of finding the good ones I
guess I mean I mean some of them it was
still good really good writers but you
just kind of you know you pick the style
that suits your website best yeah you
might get someone's very informative and
informational focused and some of
they're quite got a bit humor in the
purse see he's kind of where you want to
go right yeah the tone you want on your
website and that kind of feel that you
want so once they've produced a content
to you then edit it and add it to your
site or have you got someone else
helping you with that so yeah I've got
I've got absolutely my sidekick Helen
who many people live another regular on
the channel yet we find they're in the
live streams I'm in the Facebook group I
absolutely don't know where be without
an amazing amazing person and yeah she
she basically she proofread everything
so we get eat bats
female they come so the writers will
email me back I add it to the side and
then Helen will go over proofread it
formats it usually check for groundless
and once that's done I'll go back on add
images links and an asset so yeah yeah
hell has been enough group start I'm
sure she might be up for doing some more
stuff if people are interested doing it
can put you in touch yes oh yeah in
terms of images and other you know rich
media and stuff to jazz up the articles
and make them look really nice you know
whether you go about finding those
images and things are that you taking
them yourself or is it stock or where
you get dirt not taking images myself no
stock images one two three RF I think
it's cold is one of the sites that I use
al alright then okay yeah that's yeah
again I mean that was a little nice
little tip from income skill they they
took put me in touch with I don't know
it was there but did me a really good
package it was like forty images the it
was really cheap twenty books or someone
either Holdrege yeah watching that
stopped after about a year they saw a
mailed me said rabid cat did this
package anymore don't know why that is
still reasonable isn't yeah it's still
very good yeah and some of the image is
really unique you don't find them on I
mean this pixabay and pixels and there's
fuel the site but they had placed some
quite unique images on there so they
don't look too sucky know exactly yeah
yeah and then don't be stock images I
use them I stuck a good I mean I I think
if you get a good company with a good
subscription you sorted aren't you but
there are some free ones I'm looking on
Flickr the other day there you can get
those off there for free I mean she's
tax isn't it just make sure that you
have got any rights to images that use
up guess that's tip because you can get
in trouble cutting if you do user
unlicensed yeah yeah worries the life at
me like that you know a lot of young
Warren I used one image that and Google
I went into Google tools went free to
reused
use the tag down to the original
supplier I still got a nasty email
saying you know you need to take this
down quick our lawyers are on solicit
letters are on the way and I'll spy
scary yeah yeah
that one's actually going to call but
yeah they send you some scary letters
yeah and what are those quickly removes
that one he just had his name branded on
the bottom of the image book he for some
reason sure have been Google as if it
was freely yeah cuz that is a tip and
I've shared that tip before that when
you are doing an image searching you you
can go into tools are then usage right
and you can select labeled for reuse but
maybe it's not as accurate as it could
be yeah yeah I think you just get shared
so many back through so many avenues
that one or two slips through sometimes
but you've got the kid look I do want
this one one part I do want to get into
I mean making my own videos and photos I
didn't want to get into that that's the
best way to go if you can do it
absolutely do that take your own images
but my websites are heavily photo an
image based I mean it's one of the main
parts of it and I don't mind sharing
images from the site I'm a happy people
to link out from them because obviously
you get a little bit yeah that's all
good good exposure and good links to you
yeah absolutely yeah so you know they
are heavily image a lot my purse and
these Palmer strategies that so in terms
of your site as we haven't really talked
about any figures helmet how much
traffic is this like getting I mean how
long has it been up reminders again
Helen swipe it up just shut this morn
actually one year five months okay so
after one year five months had a couple
hundred articles how much traffic are we
getting i guess about just shot twenty
thousand page views a month Wow lately
how much money is that equate to it's in
the hundreds okay yeah I'll be honest
he's not in the thousands yeah it's
getting there
it creeps up every month but well you
got to remember a site like this this
really isn't product based science the
I'm not relying on Commission's from
Amazon really this was always gonna be a
traffic sign so the revenue is mainly
from your your ad provider which i think
was his OE last time we checked with it
yes he's all we couldn't minute I'm very
close to in twenty five thousand page
views and I was switching to media vine
which there
there are PM is far greater than these a
week and it runs faster okay yeah
so until yeah you get most your money
from ads rather than Amazon Commission's
but I guess you get a few Amazon
commissions and and don't you promote
another company or some other pet
companies yes I look for a few affiliate
companies to use to be calm if any we've
got sorry
that's one but I found there's a big big
loophole in their Commission fees and
which is they have a ten year cookie on
their side which means if anybody's
ordered from them within ten years if
anybody's got any pet products in within
ten years you won't get a commission for
it it has to be a new customer okay so
yeah that is a ten-year cookie I don't
even know you could get tenure cookies
yeah and when you think it's the number
one pets are online pet site in the u.s.
everybody's heard of it everybody used
it so as Charles everyone well cookie
yeah so we need to find some who's not
ordered from chewy in America in the
last ten years of loves pets is like
it's impossible I was getting something
like two hundred clicks a day to it and
I got maybe two Commission's a month Wow
okay so that might need revisiting and
finally someone else or something I mean
the Commission's are great it's like you
have these like between twelve and
fifteen dollars per customer which is
which is brilliant and bought you know
how sending I was emailing and weekly
saying asked how about thousands of
clicks you know why why's these sales
not coming through and it was only after
about six months of paestum that they
actually said well you do realize it's
new customers only and eighth evolve in
ten years you won't get that that would
be so yeah that quickly quickly swapped
out a lot of my links cuz I changed all
the links from Amazon to Chewie and when
I realized they say I spend about a
month to change you know back out again
back to Amazon I then start making
commissions instantly yeah you live and
learn it yeah so I guess they listen
they always check the small print on the
affiliate programs that you sign up to
yeah I mean I mean I'm an Amazon you
sponsor and reach for summers and you
know it's a real
the Commission's a seller with Amazon
onsen but those rate is a bit higher and
they reward you even if they are an
Amazon customer won't they
yeah yeah definitely so your site is
getting a lot of traffic um who are you
using to host a site so I use Phil
Rockford spider web yeah yeah from side
web yeah absolutely amazing I mean the
eServices service that you know the
website speed is better than what I was
getting a walls with SiteGround
which for any views with side route I'll
Helen has just gone with side ground
it's inexpensive and it works really
well sir at least I had no problems with
Apple
I knew the site was going to expand I
knew it's gonna need eventually a
dedicated server and Phil's got the
expertise and the tools everything
behind him to back it up sir and it's
been brilliant never add outage on the
side it's never slurred all savvy so we
comment so the site runs pretty sauce
anybody checks it out you will see that
site site isn't as fast as it could be
but that sees all week and you know yeah
oh my god it speeds it up dramatically
and it gives a much better user
experience but you know I when I'm in it
too and someone your swim in
compromising it there between your ads
and you that that's you compromising the
look and feel of your site and the
performance to earn a bit of money I
will put links to both site ground and
fill in the description and Phil is a
partner that I offer content we're sorry
offer hosting with so I will link to to
that am i use site ground for my start
sites and then yeah for my bigger client
sites and things like that I've been
using philony as you say is absolutely
excellent in terms of he's there when
anything goes wrong which is great but
she when your clients like Heidi that
always needs some attention and he's
he's been happy to deal with him
directly
yeah good so um I think we've covered
most things what would be if you were if
you were to say if someone who were just
starting out in affiliate marketing or
trying to make some money online with a
website what would be the one bit of
advice that you would you would give to
them
I think selecting obviously everybody
says selecting the niche people might
see you know fishkeeping that's it's
quite small niche it's actually not ad
class that is quite a very broad topic
yeah because some people have sights
just about a particular species of fish
or something oh you know that could be a
site a cichlid site or whatever you know
yeah absolutely a spot on yeah I mean
there's there's a site another guy who's
got spy on Guppies yeah
yes quarter of a million page views a
month and he's just got this yeah you
know so you know if Federer done it
again I probably broke it down maybe
several sites about several different
species yeah they're doing it that way
but I think the men number one to
forgive anybody a number one tip it
would just be just really think about
the content that you're writing because
you can spend so much time and possibly
money and asset right in 4,000 words on
a topic and we were chatting earlier
before the street you know and you see
people writing content you just think
great lovely article and you know your
readers will like it but it's not gonna
rank and bring traffic into your site so
who's gonna find it it's you you know
you you spending that time and possibly
the money Orion some content they didn't
gonna rank and yeah eventually
everything might rank but you know if
you're up against the big boys and the
big players each just pointless right in
certain articles and you are literally
brought because yeah it's even because
there's too much competition or it's not
a subject that people just aren't
searching for and you know if you'd have
just adjusted the tone or the subject a
little bit you'd have been in the right
spot yeah I mean I mean I mean you you
know of anybody else industry knows
there's no meeting for quite a while one
of my the site before a side the fish
one was quite a big site you knows it's
masking care and I spent a lot of time
and a lot of money on that side and it
was doing well and a few hundred dollars
a month and I thought I'd trade one of
the best sites out there and it's gonna
be amazing it's gonna be loads and you
know Ricky and Jim just looked it and
just said dumper just just get rid of it
and I was like why it's a great looking
site you know it's a bit one of these
just say you just accommodate the
keywords you're competing against she's
never ever gonna really succeed you know
you get a few hundred dollars but if you
want if you want to win a full time Inc
from this which you know is why I do it
so really we're all trying to get to
through yeah well yeah yeah and he's
just you know you just like you're not
gonna rank on those articles you know
and you know for anybody to write you
know 10 best face creams to keep you
looking younger
you just never gonna you're never gonna
rank yeah you know it's people tryna so
yeah so that's that's that's my number
one tip just whatever you're right just
just to think about if it has a chance
of ranking ask other people do your
research don't you plant and jump into I
mean out a big advocate of writing Conte
10 as much as you can as often as you
can what's gotta be the right content
now I would rather write less well
definitely know I can rank on page one
it's gonna have far more benefit to your
site isn't it doing it that way that
leads nice um because you kind of during
your process of creating sites and
discovering what content is good and
what contents bad you've got a kind of
feel for you know choosing the right
keywords and fire coming up with the the
good ideas for content and coming up
with ideas on content that's going to
rank and that's inspired you to launch a
new service do you want to tell us a
little bit about that yes a launched
website called keyword care calm and
it's all through basically through
friends of the stream and the channel
and the Facebook group and basically
just asking me for advice you know a lot
of people have been coming to me now an
email me messaging insane
you know while Cali you know you you see
published an article it's it's on page
one of Google we've been right three
four beers and you've got the snippet
you know who I'll have you done it and
it seems to have a bit of a knack for
finding the right keywords and being
able to get a snippet so I just add bits
there helping a few people out and
sending some article ideas across and
I've really got Matt so kind of hands on
the pulse with Google and all their
updates and I'm friends with a few
people who really you know they live and
breathe Google and how it works and the
insides and outsides of it so yes I
thought I lost this as a service and see
if I can help other people and I just
don't want people to waste the time and
money on rank on that you know so you
like your service is designed for people
that are struggling to come up with
ideas for content or they've you know
they just want to make sure that the
content that they're getting created and
just be clear you're not actually
writing people's content but you're
giving them a kind of plan and a list of
content ideas that then they can take
away give it to their writers or create
the content themselves and yes it just
tell us what do you get if you if I sign
up for new packages which by the way I
have something that for locales packages
and he has just delivered it to me and I
will of course be doing a full video on
exactly what you get and whether it's
any good it looks pretty good but you
know I will tell you so yeah what do you
get with with one of your packages I
mean some of the base is the most basic
package you will research your website
look at your competitors and basically
come up with a hit list and that's what
the cart is basically a hit list of
articles and that we think you should
write the ones that you got the best
chance of ranking for and ones that if
you've got limited funds and limited
time that we think will give you the
best performance for your money sir I
think the minimum plan is like 15
keywords and titles so we'll come up
with the topics but we'll also come up
with the titles as well which is really
important to get the right SEO of
focused titles to suit that topic you're
gonna write about is key so we not only
come up with the article topic but we
come up with the titles as well for you
we'll do a bit research we'll give you
some quick wins so we will look at your
website we don't particularly review
your website in great detail it's just
more of you know listen we've taken a
look at it
and we've spotted a couple of things
that will instantly make some
improvements your website whether that's
an SEO whether it's a look over the
theme or whatever we will give you a
little bit about vice on that a nice
something a service that we're gonna go
into more detail later on so I'm
reviewing websites and kind of new
website tear down kind of thing to help
you out book and the minute we're just
looking for the topics and the keywords
and the titles for you to help you sir
yes the basic plan you will come with a
hit list that you can give to your
writers are all right yourself and that
should give you the best chance of
ranking 15 article okay I'll put a link
obviously to the service in description

good well I think we've kind of covered
anything everything um let me see what
other questions I've got pretty much
anything is this we mentioned a couple

yeah he's good so he has a program

plugin that i use and he's got a really
good case study so he does case studies
