going to talk about an email that I got
from a reader from Fiji and I'm gonna
give a shout out right away to Manila
so Manila thanks for sending the email
she's gonna talk about it a little bit
today and another email that I got last
week so little-little just email
correspondence and you know a couple
reasons for that
yesterday was a day off here in the US
was the fourth of July and you know
people were just kind of out in the
office it's holidays it's a holiday we
shoot off fireworks here and you know
the way that was good usually the
weather's pretty decent this time of
year it was warm it was like a da
Fahrenheit which is like I think I don't
know what is that like 34 C or something
like that like in the thirties pretty
hot summertime weather so if you're on

it and it looks like we have a couple
people hopping on on YouTube at this
point today I'm going to talk about a
couple emails that I've received and the
reason why is today I was trying to
catch up on my email so trying to catch
up on my email and if you have I think a
lot of people that watch these live
streams you have emailed me before so
that's cool and you may have also
noticed that either you get like an
immediate response or you don't get one
for like um like five days or so so I'm
kind of I'm inconsistent
there's days where I'm like on email
I'll reply back like as soon as I get it
if it's something that I could like
reply to quickly then I'll go ahead and
do it and then I try and do something
with the emails as soon as I get him or
I'll just like bathroom and then the day
like today I put together a bunch of
email or I've had a bunch of emails in
my inbox and just went through them all
as fast as I could and you know I can
get my inbox down to something really
manageable very fast what's up David I
see you're joining today yep I'm back in
the office like I said it was catching
up on email so it looks like it may be a
yesterday I did the live stream from the
from the field right so I was outside
playing tennis with my wife and some of
her friends and I think I told people to
turn off their notifications on their
phone so it looks like maybe they
listened to me in to the notifications
on or off so now they're not gonna to
again which is a risk that I knew I was
taking but I'm sure they'll be better
off for they can watch these later if
there's leisure so okay let's get to it
here so basically I got a couple of
emails and again I think someone asked
last week I get a lot of emails I get
probably a few per day from readers
sometimes more sometimes it could be up
to like 10 or something like that
depending on what's going on but there's
always comments on the blog YouTube Plus
emails coming in and I mentioned hey
I'll answer emails of people send him in
so anyway this person emailed me a niche
site builder from Fiji named Manoah he
even has keeper she unsure asked for a
shout-out which I don't typically do but
you know what if you comment and you
want me to you know mention you the next
time we do a video I could do that you
know that's pretty easy but anyway
Noah sent me an email said he's from
Fiji says he likes the videos which I
appreciate thanks for saying that then
said that he's been reading about niche
sites since 2015 I'm reading it from my
printed out like old school paper here
I've been reading about niche sites
since 2015 on blackhat forums I've done
one niche site which did make one sale
that the account was declined because
the content was been and you know minoan
mentions that they were only like 400
words long most of the posts so yeah
pretty thin content and I mean the
blackhat form if you're not familiar
with it is sort of like generally it's
like the lower end I guess like the
quality spectrum I mean the blackhat
ideas really to do as little work as
possible and regardless of the quality
to like make money a lot of times it's
like beginners in it I read some stuff
on the blackhat forms but quickly
quickly realized there was like a lack
of professionalism or like even taking
it seriously it was like people trying
to share other peoples like courses for
free which is basically stealing right
and then a lot of other shady stuff so
anyway not to take anything away from
Manoa but like that is sort of what the
black hat forum is known for it's just
like low-quality people not really not
really looking to invest in like the
future or anything like that they're
just trying to make a quick buck which
generally doesn't last anyway people
read stuff in the black hat forums and
you know try and emulate it because
those are the things that they know a
lot of people like do and in the
internet marketing like you start out
looking at like the warrior forum or
black hat forums and then realize like
either that's your crowd or it's not
it's not my craft by the way so okay so
vanilla says anyways I'm going to start
building sites again I have a budget of
150 I can only afford to buy ten
articles from Fiverr

so I have to admit that the that email
is it starts out strong but ends really
weak to in the middle I know you're
gonna watch this so take this as some
friendly advice for the future but wish

freebies generally not gonna happen I
put out you know tons of information
which is like super valuable so you know
I know you watched the videos going to
watch some more you could learn a lot
from him as far as the advice actually
did give some advice it was a pretty
solid just opening and stuff got some
background not too long that sort of
thing so I was like basically watch all
of my webinars on YouTube those are very
helpful I see Jeff over here on the
Facebook side thanks for joining up Jeff
and they cover a lot of content so watch
my youtube channel that covers a lot of
content
it's basically what you need to know and
then I told him I started with a similar
budget of you know under 500 I mean it
was I didn't have a specific budget but
I had like money to spend so I'm on a
hosting plan and I invested in like some
content and what I thought was good link
building back in the day but essentially
I didn't I didn't start with much money
and I didn't buy a course cuz you know
I'm gonna come to this in a second but
you don't have to buy a course you just
have to have like the desire to learn
and like study and implement and then
adjust so you really don't need like the
you know the themes that people are
telling you you have to have and by the
way I never push a specific theme
although people know if there's a good
deal
like there's a good deal on a theme this
week may be over but regardless if you
have the money to invest sometimes it's
good to get a premium theme that you
know it's going to be updated frequently
it's going to be secure and that sort of
thing but you don't need it
same thing with the courses I'm gonna
sell a course starting next week you
don't have to have it right there's
plenty of information out there the
value in the course is like curate
exactly what you need minimum amount of
stuff that you need to build aside the
problem with getting free information is
there's too much of it and there you
don't know like which pieces fit
together so you may be able to get free
information from like niche pursuits and
spencer hawes you can get free
informations and like authority hacker
you can go to cloud living and get
information there and you can get free
information from me
it's literally more information and you
can consume unless you're like doing it
full-time
and you have people helping you read and
go through all the podcast videos and so
on the value in the course is its
curated information so you don't have to
go through all of that information from
various sources you just have one set
and I'm sure like everyone's sort of
plan will work
everyone's system works to some extent
but if you mix and match and you're not
a hundred percent what you're doing
you're gonna end up potentially with a
combination of strategies and tactics
and systems that don't fit together if
you know what you're doing you could
cherry-pick the stuff that you want to
work on from each of the systems and
it'll work really well in fact they
could be better if you put it together
and you know what you're doing which is
kind of what I ended up like through
learning from all these different
sources I put that together and it was
able to come up with my own and it then
added my own stuff and then that's what
fight for your niche sizes so anyway

basically you can learn as much as you
want to and if as long as you're willing
to you know keep low
implementing and adjusting then you'll
do really really well so okay
and I have another point that I want to
bring up but I see David mentioned a
couple things in the livestream over
here in the chat so what was the most
interesting email I got from a reader
you know I can't I can't remember all of
them there is one that sticks out and so
I got an email and it was this weird
very long email that talked about like
this person it was a story right it
seems completely like not real so it was
a person saying that they were a
longtime reader and fan they said like I
think they said like the rock it was
very sad right they said the whole
family died like their wife died their
children died like something tragic
happened and they were saying they like
God I don't know if they got something
out of my blog or something like that
and that they wanted eventually they
asked for something free right so this
whole long story was like what the hell
is this because it was kind of written
in in a way that like told me that they
actually like knew what my site was it
was really really weird and I think I
just I think I answered back because I
what if it is real right I don't want to
like hurt someone's feelings who is
actually going through all this stuff so
I I think I was just like that's really
sad
thanks for sharing and then I think I
asked a specific question because they
it was in broken English but they also
said they were from they lived in
Chicago they were born and raised in
Chicago so I asked some specific
questions about Chicago and they didn't
really answer so I was like the whole
thing was a lie it was some sort of scam
or email the reason why I remember this
David is because
a few weeks maybe actually it must have
been like four months later a friend of
mine emailed me you may have heard of
him
John haver at authority website income
actually he he didn't this is funny he
didn't email me about that specifically
I think he shot me an email he was like
hey need to talk something really
important and then like 15 minutes later
he called me on the phone we're friends
right we're friendly but like I've never
met him we don't call him like chat on
the phone or anything like that
so it was like was John calling me this
is super weird so I answered the phone
and he said that the same person he was
like do you know the name blah blah they
said that they know you and they've
worked with you before and that your
friends and I'm asking you done because
like they said they were they were
threatening my family so anyway I was
like John that's crazy
I don't know who the person is but they
emailed me and I thought it was a scam
email and I'd never have done business
with this person I know who they are it
was ridiculous
so David that's a good question that's
the weirdest an email that I've gotten
and then it like escalated from there I
heard back from John later he was like I
shut it down like you know it's fine but
he said that they were they were like
making threats to his family so pretty
weird pretty weird okay
David also mentions one of my new sites
has a post with an average on one of my
new sites have posts on average of 30
400 words some get ranked pages to ours
sorry some get ranked pages page 2
within 24 hours and slowly crawl to page
1 cool that sounds awesome
especially the fact
they are you know appearing that quickly
and I think that's what I've seen to by
the way a lot of times the a page or
post is gonna rank somewhere really
quick but it doesn't go straight to the
top it takes some time to move up so if
it debuts it like number four
that's great you'll get some traffic but
as it slowly climbs over the course of a
couple months then your traffic keeps
going up
and oh module Manila actually made it on
the call today which is super cool hey
Manila yeah give you a little shout out
a couple little tips you know you ask
for freebies which I don't normally do
it's sort of I don't know it's just not
a thing I do so there's a shitload of
free stuff on the side already so you
should be able to like make it work so I
don't have any other free stuff for you

know in Facebook to your friends or
whatever let them know I gave you a
shout out and have them subscribe to the
channel and share it okay so the other
email in God's which I'll tell you about
is it was routed in one of these live
streams from like a week ago so someone
said hey Doug do you answer emails like
can I send you questions and basically I
thought I thought I'd mentioned this in
that specific call but yeah I'll answer
your emails like I basically answer
every email that said unless I somehow
miss it and the quality of my answer is
directly dependent on the quality of the
question so somebody emailed me and they
said hey you know you said you answer
questions and just wanted to get some
tips from you here's my website can you
check it out what should I do
so you know I replied back it was like
yeah I do answer questions like here's
the thing though like if you answer or
sorry if you ask a question that's big
nonspecific and that sort of thing like
I can't really answer you that well and
I'm busy I'm not gonna go on your
website for free base I mean that's
that's the fact right I mean I do a lot
of stuff for readers and and I'll go
deeper here in a second but basically if
you send me a cold email we have no
rapport you've never talked to me before
and you're just like hey can you just
give me like general advice well I don't
know you know I don't know your
background I don't know anything about
the site I don't know the keywords that
are you know that you're trying to rank
I don't know the rankings I don't know
like all this stuff could I go research
it yeah but it would take me like an
hour to go onto the site
so basically was a super general
question super nice email by the way I
hope the person watches this
so my response back was you know if you
want advice I would say oh the other
thing Sgt I forgot this he said I've
been working on my site for month I've
been watching some videos can you give
me some advice it was pretty basic but
they were only working on the site for a
month so I was like I'm more content and
get backlinks and then I said if you're
if you're only one month and I work on
it for another 12 months and then you're
you know you're gonna have some results
but like one month is nothing like one
month there's not really much advice I
can give you other than you know go
watch the YouTube videos and do what I
talked about yeah it's all there like
most stuff is there so the key part of
that email that I wrote back to him was
around you know asking good questions
and it was being specific and
demonstrating some value as far as yes a
viewer or reader
so a really you know better way it would
have been to talk about they were
implementing things but I told them
about and they learned from me or at
least they heard from for me and maybe
they even researched it somewhere else
that's fine I mean I I don't have a lock
down on information or anything so if
they are taking action in doing things
and then they have a specific question
in which it's clear they've already done
their research or something like that
then I'm way more likely to go in
research because I'll be interested in
exactly like what's happening there so
for example and I think I actually have
this as one of my videos I'm gonna go
deeper on but a person emailed me like
last I was like six months ago or
something they emailed me a while back
they said hey I've been doing keyword
golden ratio stuff I wanted to tell you
Thanks and I let you know the results
and if like later and I was like perfect
that's fantastic there's no action they
were just letting me know that they are
an action taker and I'm not asking for
anything from me then they sent us some
information some results a few weeks
later boom like they sent me to a link
to their site and then you know I don't
even think they asked for anything at
that point that they were just like hey
implemented it I'm getting good results
from getting traffic this is amazing you
know stay in touch and then I think I
was like hey you know here's a little
tip on the site I would add like a
call-to-action or something like that or
I would be founder about page something
simple but kind of helpful
well eventually I asked this person to
do some like contract work for me
because I needed some help in certain
areas so that worked out pretty the key
thing there was like they demonstrated
that they were implementing stuff
they're an action taker and they had you
know at the point that they actually
asked the question which was like three
emails and it was very specific and it
was more like what observations have you
seen based on what you know on the
specific stuff that they were
like implementing and taking action on
so that was perfect
and in fact I asked if they would work
for me for a little while because they
did such a good job so overall it's
really important when you're reaching
out because the person that I'm
mentioning the emailed me last week with
a big question like you kind of burned
your question cuz you know you asked a
really basic question without I mean it
seemed like they didn't even think about
it they just hey why don't I just ask a
question that's you know what advice do
you have I don't know I mean I that's
too hard is too it's way too wide open
and it's too vague and it would require
me to do like a ton of work just to even
figure out what to answer so so that is
sort of the background there okay cool
so in Manila by the way that wasn't you
your email is a little tighter kind of
you know like it you're gonna watch this
later but basically you know when you
ask for freebies it's sort of like
that's that's a weak thing to do so just
a tip it's weak to do that alright Tommy
what's up mark hello and I guess you
know what it seems like people enjoy the
11 o'clock timeframe versus the 10:30
timeframe so maybe I'll I'll go back to
it and actually since we we have like 11
people on on the YouTube side right now
which time do you prefer you like the
top of the hour 11 o'clock which is in
like three minutes from now or the 10:30
just curious here I'm still trying to
adjust my day and stuff like that and by
the way for people that have keeping
score Facebook only had one to two
people join up over there people tend to
watch it though afterwards and I want to
I'll have to check the stats but it
looked like it looks like at least a few
dozen people watch on Facebook
which is pretty close to the number of
people that watch on YouTube after about
24 hours so david says it is 8 p.m. in
tel-aviv so either one works for you ok

it's it's very interesting and I guess
you know it all has to do with the I
guess like the Facebook algorithm and
the reach and stuff like that I have
seen I have seen like Derek Halpern
asked people to comment like he's been
doing some experiments like ask people
to comment if they could see a specific
update within a group and he said that
the more comments that a update like
receives in the faster it gets them the
more reach organic reach within Facebook
it has so it could be a matter of me
like telling people to do more calls to
action and that sort of thing or it
could just be like the particular
Facebook Facebook group them posting
this to the niche framework affiliate
marketers or whatever it's called maybe
it's just not active enough with with
people in there and based on my comments
yesterday and my ongoing I guess disdain
for Facebook I mean Facebook just kind
of like beats me down and if I hop on
there to do a little bit of work I end
up spending like half an hour scrolling
through garbage cuz you know human I
can't help myself
so okay a couple questions it came and

got I like oh sorry do I have a tip on
becoming less reliant on Google nothing
specific so actually I'll give you one
specifically I think social social
traffic can be a big driver but I
believe if you're gonna go that route
you need to pick one channel and then
really learn how to use that channel to
get traffic so maybe it's Pinterest
maybe it's really big like that whatever
your niche is is big on Pinterest so go
that route spend time there just pick on
Facebook do that if it's some other you
know social media Instagram or whatever
then you can go there I think if you
spread yourself across too many then
you're not going to make too much
progress in each one so you should
probably just pick one and do well there
I don't do that I pretty much just rely
on Google so and John mentions it's
important to ask people to like or
comment
yeah for sure it definitely is and I
need to remember that see the funny
thing is and maybe I'll do like a week
of it where I hop on Facebook and try
and get you know I guess have my
checklist out and remember to ask for
the likes and comments over and over
again and go from there

Facebook ads or Instagram to drive
traffic to my niche site I've used a
little bit on the Facebook side I
usually
don't do anything to Instagram but I
don't do that on an ongoing basis if
you're trying to like build an email
list for do something that's not
affiliate Commission related I think if
you have a goal you can run ads that's
cool if you're trying to run ads to an
affiliate based article that's monetized
through Amazon you're probably gonna
have a really tough time making math
work unless you're just the ninja with
like paid traffic so in fact I don't
know anyone that's doing that I didn't
like Amazon retargeting so I haven't
heard anyone say hey I'm making money in
the niche site on an ongoing basis like
sending traffic to a particular page now
you're trying to get people on your
sides to get them on your email list
that's different so in any way happy

email list there's no reason for me not
to send an email out and just say you
know I could pick whatever product they

that I have I have pretty big email list
ones like twenty-five hundred and ones
like nine thousand or so and if I send
an email I could drive like hundreds of
visitors to pages so it makes a
difference and just having them oh you
know a couple people were going to buy
something but anyway I don't do anything
in particular for it okay so in John
