I SPENT $900 ON THIS AND ALMOST QUIT MY ONLINE BUSINESS!



today we're gonna be talking about
pretty much how I last $900 $900 whoo
whoa who just cut me off I'm not too
sure what's going on there but I just
got cut off so I lost guys $900 with
Facebook yo who keeps doing that who's
cutting me off
who's doing this Ruby's cutting me off
guys all right so as I was trying to say
I lost $900 with Facebook ads and I want
to reveal to you guys the exact campaign
that I honestly don't know how you guys
can put up with my lame little
introductions but you made it this far
and yes I'm going to break this down for
you I'm going to share with you guys and
reveal for you how I spent $900 and just
an FYI I made no money back I got no ROI
I didn't even generate a lead on my
email list which is something that I
preached on my channel to do build out
your email list and that's because I
didn't know the purpose of that back
then and this is not something recent
this was something that I did back at
the end of 2014 beginning in 2015 and
because of this ad campaign guys I
actually looked at Facebook ads and I
thought it was schemee I thought you had
to be best friends with Harry Potter and
go to Hogwarts and be able to learn the
mystical magical potion potion making
ingredients to be able to crack the
facebook code that's the way I looked at
it like a water you had to be lucky and
have magical powers and I was I was
really wrong okay where I screwed up is
where I've seen a lot of other new
people get started in affiliate
marketing and who are marketing on
Facebook they're affiliate marketing
products mess up on and that's why I
want to share it with you guys so you
don't go through this same process you
don't throw away a thousand dollars with
absolutely no results you don't want to
do that and there's a very simple
solution and fix to this I'm gonna share
that with you as well so as you can see
in my ad manager back office here I
spent exactly 900 $1.68 the ad was able
to reach three hundred and twenty eight
thousand five hundred thirty four people
and it almost got a million impressions
which you're probably wondering well
Brando if you made no sales from it and
yeah I didn't even generate a lead on my
email list which is because I didn't
know how to build an email list back
then I know it was so bad and if you
don't know what that isn't the purpose
of that I will clarify that as we go on
through the video the importance of it
but I didn't make a single sale from it
and the reason why I spent this much
didn't stop at like five hundred dollars
or hundred dollars was because I was
optimizing my ad wrong which is the
first thing that most people do they
optimize their ad wrong what I was doing
was I was boosting my post and then I
was boosting it to get traffic and I was
boosting it to get engagement you do not
want to do this this is gonna waste so
much of your money because Facebook is
gonna go out there and it's gonna get
you people who are just gonna be more
abroad people even though you're gonna
use their insights and their tools to
target people it's not going to be the
people that you want
all right Facebook has so much data from
all the people they have using the site
they know where you were born when you
had kids when you were married how much
money you're making here like it's crazy
the day they have you don't want that
broad data to come to your ad and that's
what traffic is gonna get you same with
engagement Facebook is going to bring
you people who like posts and comments
on stuff and share stuff and you don't
really want that yeah it can help you
out a little bit engagement and it's
what really allowed me to get a lot of
clicks on my actual added I'll cover
that here in a second but it doesn't
equal sales what you want is you want to
do conversion something that I did not
do back at the end of 2014 beginning in
2015 when I ran this particular campaign
and the reason why you want to do
conversions is because they show your ad
to people who have purchased things
before and have opted into website so
you will only be paying on your facebook
ad when people opt-in to your website
and or purchase a product from you so
that's why you want to do that you're
gonna get in front of more of the
audience you want to see your ad make
sense awesome so as you can see here I
was optimizing my ad for traffic and
engagement and it did get me some
results I was able to get 1146 clicks so
out of the 300,000 or so people that saw
the ad 1,000 of them actually clicked on
it but I still got no sales got nothing
the reason for that leads me to the
second part that most people fail on and
that is the actual ad itself and the
flow from people clicking on the ad to
after the ad so what I did and
unfortunately guys just to clear the air
I cannot show you the ad that I was
running back then the reason for that
was I got so pissed with the ad and
losing all that money that I deleted the
Facebook page and when I deleted the
Facebook page I forgot to reactivate it
so after 90 days Facebook actually just
terminates pages that are active anymore
so it can't even reactivate it which
really sucks but I'm gonna show you guys
what I did wrong anyway and you're all
smart enough to kind of understand what
to avoid here so I was running an ad and
from that ad I was directing people
firstly to the most common problem that
most people starting out do and that is
a sales page this is a big no-no if
you've been online for any period of
time you know not to do this you just
know this is this is bad this is gonna
equal absolutely no money why because
it's the equivalent of doing
door-to-door sales on the internet like
going up to random strangers stores
where they don't know who the hell you
you are there's no trust there's no
rapport there and you're just showing
them a product hoping that they buy all
right second thing that I screwed up on
was not just this in my advertisement
yeah it got me clicks to my sales page
and people clicked on the ad 1100 of
them but that's not a lot of people out
of 300,000 people like that's not a lot
of people that clicked on it out of that
big of an audience that saw my hat I
should have gotten way more clicks the
reason why I didn't get a lot of clicks
on it like 10,000 or 20,000 which is
what I should have done is because in my
ad I was listing product benefits guys I
was talking about the benefits of my
product and that is one thing you do not
want to do people don't like being
pitched and people buy from people they
like they know and they trust it's
actually becoming a little bit
monotonous if you subscribe to my
channel because I say this literally in
all of my videos okay so in my ad I
never mentioned the product I talked
about how this mystical magical weight
loss juice formula can help people lose
like 30 pounds in the next month that's
kind of how I formatted and I titled my
ad to lure people in and it did work it
did get me clicks but it wasn't a value
there was no trust to be built there
people only clicked on it because they
wanted to see what the hell this
mystical magical product was and the
reason why I never mentioned my product
in my actual ad I would always talk
about it in a weird secretive way like
it was a magical juice formula a secret
diet diet pill supplement is because I
didn't want people to go to Google
Google search the actual product like oh
I know what this person's trying to sell
me I know it sucks where I know it's not
going to get me the results that I want
I wanted people to click on my ad so to
quickly recap guys what I screwed up on
was in my advertisement I was talking
about product benefits what I should
have done was I should have talked to my
prospect and my
product audiences problems and then
giving them a free solution and again
what I did was I directed them straight
from the ad to the actual sales page to
buy and it just wasn't good I mean if
you think about it when people click on
an ad and they go to like a Clickbank
sales page this is what a Clickbank
sales page looks like it's not
attractive alright you think they're
gonna buy no and even if they go to like
Amazon a trusted website you think
they're gonna buy no because you just
pitch them so that is where I went wrong
and where I see most people go wrong
because they get excited to get into
advertising they see how fast people can
make money with ads and they don't focus
on what truly makes the money when
you're focused on making sales over here
it blinds you from looking at the whole
process over here which is people buy
from people they trust alright and how
do you get people to trust you you get
people to trust you by giving them value
alright and to give you guys some
examples of ads that are currently
working right now in the marketplace and
you can use these examples for different
niches whether it's health and fitness
whether it's business whether it's real
estate whatever you desire to get
involved in but how you can give value
and gain that trust is by doing this so
let's look at a couple ad examples that
are being run right now on Facebook that
are actually converting if we look at
this ad it's getting some engagement
it's getting comments I'm sure people
are clicking on it so if we click on it
what's getting this ad that engagement
and getting clicks and getting
conversions well if we look at it all
right and we dissect it we're gonna see
some common things here so what they're
talking about here is an e-book an
e-book to help boost mobile engagement
and achieve mobile growth and for me to
get this ebook this free download I have
to enter my email my first name my last
name in my company and I can get access
to it now let's look at the actual
advertisement is it talking about
product benefits here no is it talking
about how this product can help us get
the results that we want no do they
probably have a product that can help us
get results that we want yes but are
they talking about it no okay so that is
why this ad is working they're giving
free upfront value first why because
they know that that's going to build
trust that's gonna build a relationship
with us where we don't know who they are
and now we want to know more about them
okay because they're giving us a free
ebook and all we have to do is enter our
name and
that's very easy to do to get that ebook
alright so that's one example let's look
at another example of an ad that showed
up on my timeline now this is an ad
that's targeted towards people in the
drop shipping niche so people who use
Shopify and are not making sales with
Shopify and seeing success with it well
guess what we have this ad that's being
shown and it's getting a ton of
engagement it's getting a ton of
conversions you can tell because of the
engagement and they've optimized their
ad for conversions ok so if we click on
it and we hit download we will be
brought to a page that looks like this
and look at the commonality here what
are they doing they're giving away
something for free that is a value are
they talking about a product here no are
they talking about product benefits here
no if we look at their ad are they
talking anywhere about a product no
they're talking about clicking the
actual link to download this free

that's what they're talking about here
and when you go to their actual capture
page it's very crystal clear on what
you're going to get when you enter your
name and email which is another big deal
a lot of people on their capture pages
they're being secretive all right there
being misleaded there misguiding people
they're not being specific here is
something specific if you enter your
name and email you're gonna get this

you do it that's how you resolve where I
wasted all my money that's how you go
out there and not throw your money at
the wall so if we reverse engineer this
what I should have done back then and
this is what I currently do today to get
an ROI on my ads and then I'll share
with you guys an easier solution than
having to go through some of the mishaps
that people go through when it comes to
getting started with Facebook
advertising like targeting people
narrowing your
targeting setting up a budget I'll show
you guys how to overcome that using a
very simple strategy I've talked about
before but if we reverse engineer what I
should have done is I should have
created a free front end valuable offer
all right something that was free and
valuable that helped out people in my
niche so what I would need to do is
first pick a niche okay first I'd pick a
niche if I'm gonna get back into health
and fitness like I was back into 2014
what are some of the specific problems
people have other than wanting to lose
weight and gain muscle well I know
people want to get bigger biceps they
want to get a bigger chest they want to
eliminate stress in their life they want
to be able to workout while they're
still working a job even though their
job is taking up most of their time
these are specific problems people are
having so what I can do is create a free
ebook on how they can workout at home in
30 minutes you know a week and they can
get a shredded six-pack in about 30 days
that would be something very specific
that helps them out and I would put
together this ebook that teaches them
the exercises needed to do without any
equipment that they can do from home
absolutely free all right and then what
I could do if that was my niche as an
example and you can use this knit and
you can use this example for any niche
okay just think bigger here don't put
yourself in a box what I can do then and
what I should have done then is I should
have created an ad all right that talked
about and promoted not my product but
talked about my free value-based offer
my front-end because again that's what's
going to give people value and when you
give people value gonna get their trust
and then from there they're gonna go to
a capture page where they have to enter
their name and their email obviously to
get access to that free valuable offer
that ebook that's going to teach them
you know exercises to do at home for 30
minutes a week to get a 6-pack of ABS
and then from there once they enter
their name and email on the capture page
they'll get access to it and then after
they get access to that free offer we'll
put F for free they'll be able to check
out maybe a product and service that I'm
selling and it could be a Clickbank
crappy product like this all right and
they'll be actually willing to watch the
full video because I gave them value
first or I can send them straight to an
Amazon product like this exercisable
and they're gonna be more interested in
purchasing this exercise bowl because I
shared it with them because I'm the guy
that gave them value
first think of it psychologically if I
give you something of value that you're
interested in first and I give it to you
for free to help you out with current
problems that you're having and do it
completely free if I then share with you
product maybe a day later or a week
later you're going to more than likely
be interested in purchasing that product
than you would if I were to just come up
to you and the first time I introduced
myself to you was just pitching you now
what will really elevate you when it
comes to Facebook Ads is when you go out
there and let's say you spend 50 dollars
and I've actually talked about this
before so this would be a little bit of
a refreshment for those of you who
followed my channel for a little bit I'm
not gonna get into this heavily today
but when you go out there and spend
fifty dollars if you follow this
strategy that I'm sharing with you guys
right here what will happen is more than
likely when you spend those fifty
dollars people are gonna see that ad
where you're promoting that free ebook
that free training course whatever it is
that you're giving to people for free
you don't know how to give people free
value just learn become an expert on
things watch a bunch of YouTube videos
and then teach the stuff that you
learned but when you do that people are
still gonna go through this funnel and
you'll actually start to get opt-ins
people enter their name and email there
they will get that free offer but you'll
probably still not make any money people
still not buy from you because they're
still weary of who you are they still
don't really know who you are and that's
very common more often than not you're
not going to make money on your on your
Facebook Ads what you will make money on
is on your LTV your long term value okay
of those people that opt-in on that
capture page so out of that $50 you'll
probably get maybe like let's say 10
people who enter their name and email
and I know my drawing is so bad here but
just follow me bear with me here guys
I'm telling you it's gonna make sense in
a second but when you get like let's say
10 leads on your email list and you
follow up with them for two weeks well
what can happen is when you keep
following up with them for two weeks and
giving them more free value helping
solve their problems for free and you
keep doing that maybe every second day
you send out an email they're gonna
trust you more and more and then when
you share a product with them later on
down the road maybe it's once every
third email you send out you share
product and service from Amazon well
they're gonna go check out that Amazon
product and as long as it's congruent
with what they're interested in if
they're into health and fitness its
health and fitness oriented guess what
they're going to buy from you and if
this works out in your favor let's say
you make you know to say
okay and those two sales equal fifty
dollars in total Commission's that you
make as an affiliate well guess what you
spend $50 two weeks ago but if you made
two sales that were $50 that means you
made $100 okay right there you made $100
in two weeks which means guess what you
made more money than you spent and yeah
it took you two weeks yet to get there
but you were able to make it by
following up with people so in the
beginning it was kind of like a facade
it was kind of as if you didn't make
money on your ads but because you
followed up with people and you
understood that really Facebook Ads is
all about building relationship and
long-term value you were able to make
more money back in two weeks because of
that process I hope that makes sense I
hope that kind of eases your stress and
gives you clarity on this process and
again it just pretty much pinpoints
where I went wrong back in 2014 because
what I was doing was not what you want
to do where I still see so many people
screwing up and messing up because they
want to make that fast cash and it's not
the way to make fast cash it's the way
to you know lose all the money in your
bank account fast no I just want to take
a second guys and I want to be real with
you here for a second because most
people what they're not gonna tell you
is when it comes to Facebook Ads there's
different levels there's different
layers to this onion if that's the way
you look at it and if you've tried
Facebook ads before as an affiliate if
you haven't just ignore this for a
second but if you've tried it you know
that sometimes when you're running an
ads you're not going to get clicks to it
and then once you start getting clicks
to it you're not going to get people who
are gonna opt in on your capture page
and then once you start getting people
to opt-in on your capture page if you
make it that far and you're lucky enough
okay because it takes skill and it takes
a budget and it takes you know you know
just an amount of money and testing then
you're gonna know that you're gonna have
a problem with actually making sales and
following up with people and it can be a
whole process that can be an absolute
headache and super stressful for new
people to go through to actually be
successful with Facebook Ads so if I
could rewind the clock alright and go
back to where I spent $900 what I would
have done differently is I wouldn't have
rushed into Facebook Ads
as soon as I did what I would have done
even though I know all this now to date
and this is what gets me an ROI up here
on my facebook ads is I would have
started out with Instagram and this is
what I would encourage you guys to do if
you're wanting to tap into paid
marketing is before you get
to Facebook because there's different
layers to the onion you got to learn how
to do you got - first get clicks on your
on your actual ad and then from getting
clicks to your ad you got to get people
to opt-in on your capture page then from
there you got to convert people into
sales you got to learn how to email
people like again it's a whole process a
whole headache for a new person just
being completely honest with you guys I
would encourage if you don't want to go
through that start with Instagram
influencers shadows I am Telling You
it's going to save you a lot of money a
lot of stress and a lot of aggravation
because as an example here let's say I
want to promote not this but let's say I
want to promote I don't know like a dog
chew toy alright like a dog chew bone
okay let's say that's the niche I'm in
or let's be a little bit more specific
here more specific is the best way to go
the more broad you are the harder it is
to market on any type of advertising
platform and just build a business
online in general so let's be specific
what types of dogs are there out there
alright because dogs is very generic and
broad let's go with like pugs okay so
let's do pugs yeah let's do pug speakers
yeah let's do pug speakers what the hell
why not okay so here is a pug speaker I
didn't even know they make these types
of things but it's an animal audio
bluetooth speaker and it is a pug so
let's say I want to market this and I
want to do Facebook ads well I'm gonna
have to go through a whole process and
headache like I just said to you not
only that but I'm gonna have to go to
Facebook I'm gonna have to target
conversions then I'm gonna have to pick
interest I'm gonna have to narrow those
interests I'm gonna have to do a five
dollar day budget for like three days
it's gonna be monotonous and it's gonna
be crazy and I'll probably quit if I was
a new person I'm just being transparent
with you most of you will probably quit
doing that so with Instagram the cool
thing is we can get very laser targeted
so what I would do with this product
if I were promoting it as an Amazon
affiliate let's use it as an example why
not what the hell let's go with it just
to end up today's video give you guys
just a little bit more value little
cherry on top is I would head over to
Instagram and luckily I already have
this pre-loaded for you guys I'd head
over to Instagram and I would search
things related around dogs now I could
type in dogs just an Instagram search
alright and I can go to the most generic
and broad dog Instagram profile but I
choose not
- I'm gonna type in pugs because that is
what my product is okay I'm reverse
engineering it I'm first finding a
product okay that is very specific then
I'm finding an Instagram influencer that
it's very specific
then I'm connecting with that Instagram
influencer to do a story shut up so as
you can see here I clicked on the first
one and it's got five hundred and eighty
six thousand followers not bad at all
it's got a Facebook page you can contact
them you can message them I would
mention to them from all angles again
these people get inundated with messages
on a daily basis of hundreds and
sometimes even thousands so messaging
them on all types of social media like I
taught in my Instagram influencers
shout-out video how to market you
haven't seen that go check it out on my
channel is the best way to do it but
who's gonna like this picture or who's
gonna like this Instagram profile I mean
it's gonna be people who like dogs but
not just dogs it's gonna be people who
specifically like pugs alright so do you
see where I'm going here guys do you
think people who like this profile
alright and follow this profile or any
type of ordinary people no they're
people who like specifically pugs so
that means they will more than likely
want to buy my animal speaker that I'm
promoting here and it is really lucky
enough it is a pug speaker okay so what
I would do to kind of advertise to this
influencers I'd reach out to them I
would negotiate with them with this
Instagram influencer I'd probably spend
maybe thirty or fifty dollars for a
story shout out that's the way you want
to optimize your ad again I've already
taught Instagram influencers story shout
outs and how to advertise on Instagram
if you want to learn how to do that just
check out my channel and I think it was
a couple videos back five or ten videos
ago I uploaded so yeah check that video
out if you want to learn how to do it I
break it all down for you but just to
kind of cover this in a quick little
nutshell without it being confusing is
how I would position myself with this
influencer is simply this I would all
right create a free front end valuable
offer all right around what not just
dogs no we're not being broad here again
we're being specific we're gonna make it
something around pugs okay like how to
make your Pug walk with you on walks
without a leash how to make your Pug do
tricks and what I would do is maybe make
that free offer like an e-book because
people love ebooks
you guys could see with the Facebook ads
that people are running today most of
the things they're promoting as a
front-end offer for free to give value
and build trust with people are ebooks
so ebooks are really hot in the
marketplace all right so what I would do
is make an e-book that would teach
people how to train their Pug how to
make dog treats for their Pug that pugs
love and give them better breath and and
help with their health I'll just do
something around that then what I would
do is I would get that Instagram
influencer to advertise all right a
story shout out promoting all right in
my ad that free value based ebook offer
over here not the product that's what
everyone else is doing they're promoting
the product and sending people straight
to the product no all right we're a lot
better than that as I always say in my
videos we're way better than that we're
professional we're not here to lose
money from the ad they would be sent to
a capture page where they have to enter
their name and email to get access to
this specific ebook and then once they
do that they will actually get access to
that ebook and once they get access to
the e-book at the end of the ebook I
will mention this pug product which is a
speaker right here and they're gonna be
more than likely to become a conversion
to actually become a customer then
opposed to not becoming a customer
because again I led with that value I
was leading with trust first I gave them
a free ebook on how to make dog treats
for their pug and how to walk their Pug
without a leash it was all about pugs
and because they like a pug Instagram
profile and they're getting access to a
pug ebook absolutely free after they
finished the ebook and they're gonna get
introduced to my pug speaker guess what
it is in total alignment with my
audience it is showing the right product
to the right audience and having the
right marketing funnel and the right
free funded valuable proposal and offer
right there to build trust do you see
how it's all working and intertwining
and fitting together like one big puzzle
piece all right
I hope this is making sense I hope this
gives you guys clarity that is really
not only how I lost nine hundred dollars
in the most stupid way possible when you
see it from a bigger picture from from
where I am now and now you understand
where I went wrong all right but that's
also how you can fix it and how you can
avoid it so I really hope you guys
