A Needle in My Neck! (Nerve Block Procedure for My Voice)

- My name is Pat Flynn
and I'm about to get a needle in my throat.
- [Jim] We're gonna go right in.
- That's right next to
my Adam's apple. - [Jim] It'll go right there,
right there, right there.
- Hey guys, I'm here in Australia with Jim Bostock
who has an amazing practice, helping a lot of amazing people
I mean, what is it that you do really?
- Basically, it's Nervelocks is what I treat.
It's when the body says, I've had enough.
When you've pushed your tissues, your anatomy,
tissues in any way, to a certain point and beyond
and it says I've had enough.
- You help some high-end clients,
like Tony Robbins.
- Yeah, yeah, so I've treated Tony for many years.
And oh many others, singing sort of people.
I'm going to treat Pat's voice,
'cause he has an amazing voice.
I'm gonna decompress it for him, because Pat uses his voice
a lot for his job, his practice,
and being in Australia he's been doing a lot of talking,
he's feeling, every morning he's getting up,
a little bit hoarse and tight.
I'm gonna decompress,
it's a lot of blood flow coming back in
and flushes all that crap out
and he's gonna have a nice free sounding,
clear, projected feeling voice again.
- And you're gonna stick a needle in me.
- And I'm gonna stick a needle right in there.
- Alright, I'm scared.
- [Jim] Here it is.
- Oh my god.
- [Jim] Here it is.
- Ha! Okay.
(laughter)
Alright.
I hate needles, by the way, I'm just letting you know.
- Yeah, definitely sense that.
Okay, we're gonna extend it out a bit, just like that
and rest down, just like that.
Literally, it feels like I've done nothing to you.
- Alright, guys, I'm gonna get a needle.
Oh my god, I think it, ah!
- [Jim] There it is, there it is, just wait, here we go.
- Oh you did it?
- [Jim] Hang on, just one moment, and we're gonna go
Reset, reset, reset, reset, reset,
and we're out.
- I literally didn't feel anything.
- Yep, there's no pain receptors
in that part of your anatomy.
- You could've told me that earlier
- Oh! I'm sorry about that.
Okay, delete that one out.
- No it's okay.
Well, thank you.
- [Jim] You're welcome.
- Appreciate it.
Jim, dude, thank you so much,
I appreciate you, where can people...
Actually, really quick for people who can't come here
and get help from you, is there anything that
like, a regular person can do at home just to make sure
that their voice is well trained for what they do,
maybe one exercise or something?
- A lot of people on YouTube
talk about this stuff, but I always say
keep your gut healthy, so eat the right things
that suits your gut biotics.
Drink well, you know, H2O version,
really well. - Yeah.
- Look out for your stress levels, very, very important.
Sleep really well, sleep is massive
for the human voice, sleep.
Get good nutrients into you, like vitamin C,
which is really helpful for your vocal cords, physiology.
And yeah, stress, I talked about stress already.
And exercise, cardiovascular exercise,
really, really important.
And to finish it off, vocal exercises.
I can't emphasize enough,
for people who use their voice as a job,
to do vocal exercises, as part of your habit every day.
Little habits every day, get a vocal coach, go online,
you know, find people who can help you with your voice
that way, it's really important.
And my treatment is just an adjunct to vocal exercises
but it just helps you do it easier and better
and you get the better results from it
because the mind's a physical reset to the nerves.
- It feels great, thank you.
I appreciate you. - You're welcome
- Where should people go to get more info from you?
- Well I run the Bostock Institute in Australia
so bostockinstitute.com is where you'll find all my stuff.
I have stuff on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram as well,
Bostock Institute, I think Instagram is without the E
because I couldn't get the last E in.
- Of course. - Yeah.
- So we'll put all the links below, thank you so much
Thanks man.
- Thank you, pleasure, thank you.
