that we put up earlier this week I'm
sure most of you have seen it well
hopefully you have so we're here to
answer any questions you may have around
any of the videos in that playlist and
but of course we're also happy to talk
about anything else that you want to
talk about what so anything around
Amazon affiliate marketing SEO websites
whatever you like cool yeah

like detailed than just the keyword
golden ratio so it's like a higher level
more holistic view at what you need to
think about when you're thinking about
keyword research so and I put a link in

are you seeing like people are watching

seems we do really well let me just
bring up some figures I'd also maybe
read out a few comments that we've got
on some of the video there's a few
questions I don't know if you've seen
them I guess you've had some questions
on yours as well yes exactly I need to
take a look at yours it's hard obviously
with if people don't have YouTube
channels of their own a lot of times
there's just a lot of comments I mean
it's actually kind of hard to manage so
I'm sure Alex you do your best I do my
best but I've just been looking at my
own comments I haven't even looked at
yours but we should probably I should
probably hop over and have a look so
yeah if you see any questions I'd be
cool yeah there was one here um from a
guy called Jess this was a comment on
the how long content how long should
content be video I know I had a hard
time keeping that on one spot for a
keyword phrase I kept adding content up
to around 2,000 words I finally removed
some of the affiliate links in the text
and it regained the number one spot
what's your thoughts on that yeah I mean
I think if you put in too many affiliate
links it's bad
basically so don't put too many in if
you're just looking for a guideline I
would say like one affiliate link for
every 200 to 300 words it's way less
than you can put in there but my thought
is if you have the right traffic coming
to your site you don't need to be too
aggressive and in fact it comes off like
kind of needy pushy if you have too many
affiliate links so I just like to have a
strong call to action with text I don't
use buttons I rarely use images as
affiliate links and I just have like you
know see this product that Amazon check
the price on the Amazon whatever you
want I usually just say like you're
going to Amazon learn more yeah
because Google don't really like for the
its Heights for some reason do they no I
mean as long as you're bringing some
value it's okay but yeah that's you know
part of it like if you have way too many
affiliate links on their Google's just
like ah it's not really what we want to
promote it's to spending yeah okay a
question from the chat top ops says I
keep getting slightly locked saying my
site has malware but my host is saying
no will they block my website it's only
a few months old yeah you want to get
that checked out a great company that I
use all the time
is securi security to curry I'll put a
link in the chat now they do charge but
they they'll give you a fact they've got
a few free tools actually a scanner and
stuff which you can run through that
might help with that if site lock is
saying that there's malware then there
probably is the Google so anything I
mean that's one thing to check your
webmaster console Google will also
detect if you've got any malware but I
was getting a site clean and everything
that I highly recommend Securi which
I'll put a link in a chat for right now
is an affiliate link of course I've used
I usually pay them a yearly subscription
just because it's one of the things with
WordPress I'm afraid of though WordPress
is a great platform because it's so
popular it's also targeted by a lot of
hackers and malware and that kind of
stuff so the chances are if you've got a
few WordPress sites and you're not
always ha time doing your updates you
can get malware and with those drives
whenever I have a problem like that and
my site gets hacked or I get any malware
they have it clean like within an hour
and and all secured up and everything so
I tend to let the experts take care of
that kind of stuff very cool JW says can
you affiliate Google online services I
bet they'd let you rank high huh oh you
mean like promote some of the Google
services I'm not sure I don't even know
if Google do affiliate marketing I don't
think they do probably I don't think so
yeah I don't know sure about that

from a comment says it's more of comfort
I have an up work rights to do at least
a thousand words for all my articles the
lower word-count articles Phil just feel
cheap and worthless that's fair enough I
think there was one comment that we got
regarding the length of articles where
they just said as long as your article
is longer than the other articles that
are coming up in Google you'll be fine
so if there's just 500 word articles
coming up then if you do a 600 word
article this is good quality you should
outrank them I mean I don't know how
much merit there is between that but I
think it's a rule of thumb the longer
the better is that that's just how it
goes
I think so yeah just in general like
you'll be able to attract more longtail
keywords of course you can't just ramble
on and be redundant and not provide any
like real information and thanks for
setting me up for a dirty joke I didn't
take it by the way I don't know if
anyone else noticed in the chat but
really that's what she said so and I
don't know why I didn't take it because
you were like but the one other thing to
add is like thousand words is like where
we aim at a minimum longer is better
right so if you can make it like
meaningful and useful that's great level
2.0 right what you want to think about
is once you're already ranking well or
you're starting to get traction even if
you're ranking number one you can go
back and add more content and make that
article better and you'll probably
either improve in the rankings if you're
not number one or if you're number one
you'll probably like attract more
traffic through other longtail keywords
because you actually know Google already
likes that page so if you're ranking
number one don't be afraid to go and add
you know 50% more words or something
like that that's good tip so it's good
some questions coming into the chat

security is a plug-in but it's also a
service as well there's a whole guy of
whole team of experts that just just do
WordPress security so that's in you know
when it comes to cleaning your site
that's a manual process done by a real
human being but they do have a plugin
that allows you to secure up your
WordPress site and scan it and all that
kind of stuff
pastor jus says he uses wordfence plugin
for security and they have free and paid
services again yeah wordfence is a great
plug-in to security I recommend that one
as well Helen hello Helen could see one
she says that she tends to always go for
1500 words or more AJ says your
background is different it is I I think
that the picture quality on this camera
is better so but fortunately the
computer is here we can switch the own
if you want but I mean let me know what
you think I I just think it looks a bit

JW says have you tried articles ranking
in different languages I haven't because
I don't
unfortunately speaking any other
languages maybe a little restaurant
Spanish when I'm in Spain but that's
about it
Doug have you ever tried different
languages no never have never have can't
have anything to it I guess the same
rules would probably apply you know good
quality content of a decent length do
your keyword research though a lot of
the keyword tools are generally English
focused I've noticed but I'm sure there
are foreign language tools out there and
I would guess I mean just my gut would
say in general it's probably like
there's some correlation relative
relative sense between like different
keywords so if it's a kgr in english
it's probably a kgr in some other
language but i don't know the details of
it yeah so and I was I was gonna say a
few I got a few comments on one of your
videos Alex that people really like the
answer the public so in my live stream
some people were pointing out that the
answer the public video was very good
and they thought coupling that together
with keywords everywhere was a great way
to just come up with like new ideas that
they wouldn't have thought of on their
own so yeah that's all definitely froze
up keywords that a lot of the other
tools don't which is why I chose that
one it's one that not many people have
heard of in fact before I thought the
key words everywhere playing and I was I
didn't know that the two kind of work
together and that's the great thing
about that keywords everywhere it seems
to plug into a lot of things so even on
YouTube for example it gives you search
numbers and keyword ideas and that kind
of stuff but yeah answer the public is
great for finding some keywords that you
might not find in other places yeah and
I just put a link for that as well you
know that's one if you haven't watched
everything yet or you thought maybe you
already knew
to use that do take a look at it I
actually I did a livestream yesterday
just to point people towards the SEMRush
video because I think it's the best one
but no one was watching it for some
reason okay I mean it's an expensive
tool right but you can get a trial for
seven days with SEMRush normally some
rush is like a hundred bucks a month or
so something like that so it's a little
pricey but the information you can get
from it is just fantastic so I like I
said I pointed people towards something
I thought they were missing out on so
that's this is another good one the you
know ants for the public here cool cool
umm

a look for a few of the the comments on
the play this year interesting if we
look at the playlist some videos are
doing better than the numbers I guess
that's to be expected I mean that kind
of gives an idea of what you guys are

really interesting data from releasing
the playlist like this so if people are

to my knowledge I haven't seen any other
collaborations where people put out
content like this there could be some
but generally the the place where I saw
like this tutorial style playlist
released all at once is like the YouTube
creator Academy and then yeah yeah and
they they'll put out ten and they're
usually pretty short videos not always
but they're usually like five minutes or
something and they'll teach you like a
whole like set of stuff to get experts
to go through it's really high quality
much higher quality than what I am able
to put out but I was like you know I've
watched a full playlist in one sitting
and I was like I'm sure they're people
want to do it too it's just hard to play
in it and then coordinate with two
people to get it done yeah some tough so

says do you think backlinks from
Pinterest or infographic websites would
work as well as blog comment backlinks
I'm sure they are all nofollow comments
here generally blog comments are
nofollow links in my experience
Pinterest is definitely a great place to
get some links I'm not sure if there and
I follow it pretty sure then there
follow um but just because it links
nofollow doesn't mean it's not worth
getting would you agree with that dog
correct yeah and I would say like if you
can get traffic through a link it's a
good one so Pinterest your even if it's
nofollow like if you're getting traffic
from it that's a good thing

deciding which sites to go for to add
backlinks so the process of deciding
which sites for me I usually will
approach it like you know what sites do
I think I can get a backlink from and
then I'll come up with a like an
advanced Google search string to find a
footprint that I'm looking for right so
there's certain things that I may look
for like be able to leave a comment for
example then I'll leave the comment and
develop a relationship with a blogger
and then go from there so that's bait I
don't look at metrics or anything else I
just want to like you know network
within the niche so it's relevant yeah
that sounds good I mean yeah and just
look at the quality of the site and
whether they can compliment whether
there's something you can do together
that kind of thing mud brats I don't see
a question do you want to ask it again
at weed if we miss your question do not
take offense that we don't intentionally
miss any questions but just sometimes
the chat goes past and you know we just
missed them accidentally but yeah my
practice I don't see a question I see

freelance places that you can go it

there are some people offering to create
hundreds of backlinks which a niche
niche leash which a niche specific any
good or waste of money don't I'll let

you think it is I'll ask you that it'll

it'll work or not work and I'll tell you
just in a broad sense I may have said
this already today I'm off at coffee
this week by the way I'm just having tea
so I don't know where all the energy is
coming from but
why is the coffee you know what I was in
on the west coast and I drink a lot of
beer and I drink as much coffee as I did
beer so I was just medicating myself on
both both sides of the spectrum and yeah
I was like you know well my wife and I
will give it a break for like a week or

cheap or easy and if it's both it's
definitely not going to work so if it's

work well and if it does there's usually
some high risk involved this applies to
almost everything in life by the way so
if it's cheap or easy you probably want
to stay away from it
if it looks too good to be true it
probably is yeah I mean if we could all
just get a little back links for five of
them less what we will do and we could
spend 50 bucks and we'd have thousands
of links and all be number one on Google
but no they're best avoided in fact most
services on Fiverr
in my opinion a best avoided I mean I
don't think I've ever had anything good
or fiber really and I'll challenge you
just on because obviously you can get a
ton of different services so I've had
like some graphics done okay yeah that's
different yeah so if it's you know
something different then it can be okay
but like link building is usually just
really a bad way to go on Fiverr there I
think buying links in general is is
generally a no-no I mean and used to do
some stuff with the Hoff did you or did
you still do stuff with the Hoff I
haven't ax
have gotten any services from anywhere
in quite a while but the Hoth does have
some they have a range of products so
some of them are gray hat which violate
the google webmaster guidelines so I
don't mess with those they used to be
fine if you're into like grey hat stuff
it's great they also have some white hat
services where it's like guest posting
content
those are great the customer service
with the Hoth is actually really good
I've emailed a lot of times with the I
think it's the CEO of the company but
they're really good to have like you
know folks it'll call you on the phone
and stuff like that yeah I've used them
at night and they seem good but I mean I
haven't maybe seen much effect on my
rankings using them to be fair but right
customer service is very good all right

can submit the sitemap if you want to oh

valuable to you know help you see what
your your site's ranking for where you

for us has run out no sales that's

do I'd reapply and keep working on the

Commission on any UK so it maybe it's
because your site is too broad in terms
of its regional focus which is why
you're strong in ticket sales on the US
side maybe just focus it as a UK site

what Germany I've had to reapply before

think it's a very I think it's a waste
of time if you did that by the way but
that's how you would do it and then is a
discount niche profitable for the US no
clue I imagine I see discount sites out
there and deal sites so yes it's
definitely profitable should you get
into it maybe not I think those are big
sites yes they away from me
it's a huge market the discount site the
same as the voucher codes the cashback
all those sites which are all of the
affiliate powered sites but they're big
sites they're they're operated by big
companies generally that have a big team
behind them to keep the deals fresh
and keep the site updated and and lots
and lots of useful content and you know
paid ads all that kind of stuff it's too
broad for a small guy like you or me to
get into and really you want to start
with a more niche site that's I mean you
could do a discount
you know discount around a particular
niche it could be discount I don't know
discount sportswear but that might be
too broad as well but you could focus
but I don't think discount is a great
way to go anyway because it would mean
the prices are lower and therefore your
commission is less as well so probably
not a good area to investigate yep and
then you know the other thing is Duke is
mentioning the content AG plug-in pulls
discounts and I guess it Rho heat it
also tracks the price on Amazon and all
that stuff so yeah content Inc does do
that uses the Amazon API and it can put
in discounts from other affiliate
networks like I feel it with no and
Commission Junction all those kind of
things so it's a Rohit you can track the
product price of Amazon using the Amazon
API we zone will do that for you for

tend to overuse informational articles
because it seems easier to not only find
keywords but then to write on those
keywords I don't think that's a bad
thing I mean I'm sure Doug will agree
informational articles are fine
especially if you can capture keyword
where people are looking for information
just before they're about to make a
purchase so they just want a little bit
of help it'll be a clarification they
want to know maybe which one's best
which products best that kind of thing
so you can use an informational article
to turn that person into a sale and as
far as I remember I think Doug would say
that you know a good mix of different
types of articles on your site is good
so a mixture of informational and you
know more commercial focused keywords is
fine but yeah I think that's a great
comment because it is easier generally
to find those keywords and it's often
easier to write some content when it's
like a question yeah what's the best
whatever for whatever you know that kind
of writes itself doesn't it yep totally
agree and I think you know if it's
easier for you to find those there's I
mean no reason why you shouldn't publish
a lot of those I mean just getting
traffic to your site is a good thing in
general yeah yeah I think I'll go for
like another 15 minutes if that's what
were you Doug so and then we'll wrap up

you got you got kicked out of the
program because you didn't make any
sales but then you reapplied you're
accepted - at this point you have 180
days six months or so to make three
separate orders and then they'll come
and review your site so
if you're moving forward at this point
and you're working on your site you
should be fine so just keep you know
pushing forward and you should be fine
yeah and those sales would definitely be
tracked
they'll be fine I mean the only time you
wouldn't get payment is if they rejected
your application if you're fine with
approval you'll get the money for those

site and put all their effort and time
into that one or set up a few and hope

where's that one this is Steve oh yeah
do you recommend people build one so I
put their foot in time it's that I would
recommend that you focus on one to start
with but I mean yeah if it's not working
out after six months and maybe you've
chosen a bad niche or you know there's
just simply not the traffic there then
you do have to kind of cut your losses
at a certain point but if you create a
site and it starts to work and it starts
to get a bit of traffic and you get a
few sales then I would just focus on
that add some more content add some more
products do some more link building and
build that side up until it gets to it
to a nice level what do you ever I think
you'd agree with that don't call that
yeah basically I mean a lot of people
were thinking hey I'm gonna make like
three sides that make you know $300 a
month or whatever there's way more
overhead than you think for each of
these sites so I come from like a
project management background systems
and setting up teams and all that stuff
and I don't even want to do it all right
so if you could just imagine that and I
again I was talking to a former student
of mine and he got to a point where he
was making five five to seven thousand
per month and he was like alright I'm
gonna expand and I was like don't do it
man like I know you're trying to launch
six new sites but don't do it it's going
to be way more work like if you have to
do something more like add more to your
same site and you'll get a 10x return
versus like setting up new stuff so fast
forward about eighteen months he's now
talking about
the sites that he started he spent all
this time and money he seemed like no
growth it's been level for eighteen
months because he spread himself really
thin so some sites started making money
but then his other big earners like went
down a little bit so it's unfortunate
because you know we don't know right you
you rarely know the alternative when you
pick a path but I could tell you without
a doubt if you focus on one site and
don't worry about trying to start
another one for a little while you'll be
able to pour all your energy into that
one learn a lot and then maybe you'll
get some traction you can focus more on
that site even more and if you have to
you can start another site it's really
hard to like resist that temptation yeah
this kid I mean he goes back kind of a
bit to the first question we had around
security and all that kind of stuff if
you've got more sites that's more
WordPress sites you've got to keep
updated and make sure they're all up and
running that's all hosting accounts it's
more domain names it's just more more
overhead and I know because I used to
manage a lot of client sites you know 30
or 40 different WordPress sites and it's
a nightmare keeping them all working
nicely and up-to-date and secure though
Helen has just said that she concentrate
on one site and she then once she
started receiving Commission's she
started another than another and she's
been only Commission's off of those so I
guess what you know whatever works for
somebody who works whatever but in our
opinion if you can focus on one site if
you're onto a good thing then and do
more Jupiters are using one link and if
so what are you seeing concerning the
value of using it I've not really used
it have used it duck I used it for a
little while but I was having trouble
like cashing the checks so stupid
problem but I was like it was a small
amount of money so I just I should look
back at it but no major concerns do get
one point people were very concerned
that the links weren't being tracked and
they were losing commissions because of
it but I didn't find that I found that I
made sales in the UK and Canada and I
was getting checks like I said I was
having a hard time
cashing them and it just it's a matter
of me adjusting how often I get paid so
I can just get like one check every six
months or something like that and then
it's more worthwhile for me personally
is that just us begging still taking
what year I will pound checks or
whatever yeah you know I I don't like
banks that much so like I have online
accounts mostly and they were not
helpful in a remote place right so like
the biggest there's only like a million
people in this whole state and it's like
the fourth largest state so all the
states that are around me are also kind
of small so I have to drive a pretty
long way to get to like a big major
National Bank would like a reserve
people in the US know what I'm talking
about so basically it was kind of a pain
for me to cash the check because I live
in the mountains that's whatever I was
in Wyoming Commission via and let's
write why do they not do that for you I
think they do for some stuff and I like
I said I just you'll you'll notice a lot
of my stuff is just like keep it simple
so like I set it up and then I started
getting checks then I was like you know
what this is not working for me and I
may be able to get the wires and I think
I just need to look at it closer yeah
look at that man yeah maybe harder to
get it over here from whatever like the
dot u K or whatever to my US bank I
don't know yeah I think our banking
system is a little better nevermind I
think probably yeah because I get
affiliate Commission from all around it
comes in in dollars euros whatever in
the bank just just does it and I haven't
seen a check for quite some time which
is a good thing
so electronic maybe I missed the
checkbox where it's like yeah just a
rack because I obviously I went direct a
positive when a stupid yeah when you get
Amazon vouchers that's true yeah anyway
and he says Alex how do you feel about
betting Woo's own products inside your
articles you mentioned Google doesn't
like affiliate links that's a good point
I see I'm that's what I quite often do
is have am running a wuzhou
site and I'm gonna write an article and
I've got you know some products that I'm
gonna feature in that article I'll make
sure that I've got those products on my
site and then I'll just link to those
products to actual product page on my
site rather than linking off to Amazon
so that kind of integrates nicely then
with your site so people can read the
article they can then click through to
the product on your on your site add it
to their cart and check-out and I'm
pretty sure the Google could not see
that that is an affiliate link I've
never actually used the Wu's own feature
where you can actually embed it into
your into your content but if I was
going to do that I pretty just use the
site stripe to to add an image or
whatever I wanted to do and Ray says did

using Shopify a while back from my other

I did build a Shopify site to do some
drop shipping and the site was easy to
set up and everything but I never really
made any money off it and I lost money I
think I spend most money on Facebook ads
and I didn't didn't get the sales that I
needed and yeah Shopify is a great great
platform it ends up costing you more
than WordPress that's for sure but it's
maybe a slightly easier than we promised
