special livestream sorry didn't see much

warning about it but myself and Doug

have just come back from holiday or

vacation as likes to say and we really

wanted to do a stream together just to

let you guys know about a really

exciting playlist that we're about to

make live in the next few minutes so

let's just wait a couple minutes let

people kind of get the notifications and

get online I think the viewers are

starting to come in okay yeah hey I'm

Doug Pennington from niche site project

and I do a lot of stuff with the Amazon

affiliate marketing and I've been

talking a lot about keyword research in

the last two years or so talked a lot

about the keyword golden ratio which is

getting a little traction some people

definitely don't like it but a lot of

people do like it and I think this

playlist will help refine some of the

questions around the details of the

keyword golden ratio plus I mean this is

really we're calling it a masterclass

and I think it is I mean it's a few

hours worth of content and it really

walks you through like the concept of

what the keyword golden ratio is and

then you know it really goes deep into

you know how do you do it what tools can

you use to do it so yeah that that's

really what this playlist is about so

and I'm trying to get over to the

question anyway tonight if you want to

was in Norfolk which is if you look at

Great Britain this to be on the side at

really lovely old fishing Tara said I

was staying in the cottage which was

built in 1640 I thought I'd let you know

that because I know that in America

young got it that's a bet old but yeah

really old cottage stairs like a ladder

unfortunately the weather wasn't great

but you know we did some crabbing as we

call it where you lower some bait in

case perhaps that kind of thing it's

kids view few pints of ale in there and

the local inns yeah out there do the do

they have like the casks out there like

in everybody else like their cask and

cows go yeah proper English oil which is

good the risk is you have to find pubs

that keep their a oh well yeah I know

that you're into your beer as well but

yeah yeah they have to keep it well

could only last for like three or four

days so you have to go to pubs that sell

a reasonable amount of ale in order to

make sure there's nice and fresh and

good yeah that's right yeah it's

catching on in certain areas a lot of

the bar I was in a place where there's a

ton of breweries at Portland Oregon I

think they said there are like 200 in

the metro area of Portland there's just

there's so many in a lot of places will

have like one cask it's a bigger place

they may have to but you know there's so

many people going in and drinking pier

they turn it pretty quick and they're

pretty serious about it is to live in

the barrel it's still you know got the

eastern air and there's things going on

it's not like you filtered pasteurized

stuff that you generally get but yeah we

also get a lot more kind of American

style beers over here now nice hoppy

beers which I quite like yeah yeah I see

some people are in the in the chat say

back and forth so that's how it works

and we just go through the whole you

know gamete of the kgr so the contest is

this I'm going to refer to my notes here

we basically want a lot of interaction

on these videos so what we're gonna do

is ask you to make sure you're

and I so it should just take you a few

the other part is you know if you if

there's enough people asking questions

about certain aspect I mean that may

spawn other videos for us to do to add

on to the playlist so yeah yeah of

course

about some thoughts just putting the

final touch to the place I'm gonna share

yeah I'm just adding videos 8 9 10 and

then I'm gonna put a link in the

in the next few minutes you may get some

they are best watched in order yes in

that that is that is key I mean once we

once we get everything published

it'll be very clear I think but as we're

trying to kill live with everything and

actually announce it via this live

stream it has been difficult to make

sure like you don't get crazy

notifications but there's only so much

we can control I can't even keep the

window open

alright here's what's in here's what's

in the playlist there are ten videos

number one it starts with Alex so you

know again the playlists are all the

same starts with Alex we talked about or

he talks about the intro to the series

and then I explained the kgr and it kind

of just opens it up if you're unfamiliar

with the concept or anything like that

the next video is success story so I

talked about just people that have found

success I go over I show five specific

examples I think we have a few people on

we have Jaron we have Wesley we have

Ellen Duke and John so I do a quick

highlight reel of some of the stuff that

they've been able to share on the

channel otherwise and then I go into a

demo of a new and improved key word

golden ratio like template sheet so

there's a couple tweaks that I've added

in there over over time people have sent

me some of their tweaks and you know I'm

just integrated those along with stuff

that I had for my own personal sheet

that I just didn't share except for

within my course and then after I go

over the demo I send it over to Alex he

finds actually it's three videos where

we show like each other or we show how

to find kgr terms using keywords

everywhere SEMRush and longtail Pro or

actually Alex I'm not sure what you did

for your second obviously the public to

help you find good questions that people

are typing into search engines that you

can then create content around

awesome so we go over three ways to find

terms then I talked about some of the

you know the details I get this question

probably twice a week

what about search volumes over two

hundred and fifty I tell you why it's

two hundred and fifty and in fact you

know part of part of the reason why it's

250 is sometimes the keyword search

volumes from tools it varies and the

formula is created to be extremely

simple so you can use it and it's very

strict so it's effective even if the

values are off a little bit it still

works there's a book I'm a project

manager and I no doubt on productivity

and stuff like that so there's a book

called the checklist manifesto who's

read the checklist manifesto let me know

in the chat and/or the comments if

you're watching it later but basically

the checklist manifesto

it talks about having a simple checklist

so that it's usable you don't want to

have like a thirty point checklist

because people won't use it so you just

need to hit the high points when you

extrapolate that over to this keyword

golden ratio formula that I created it's

simple it's foolproof and if you get

pretty close to what I'm trying to do

you don't have to have exact numbers

could I create a crazy formula with a

bunch of factors to make it a little

more exact yeah but it's kind of a waste

of time and it would be confusing and no

one would understand what the hell I'm

talking about so it's much easier with

two factors and a little bit of

intuition so back to this stuff that's

in the playlist how long the content

should be at least when you're pushing

out a lot of content and then I talked

about the best format to find kgr terms

so some people have trouble finding like

just terms in general especially when

they're just getting started so I give

you some formats and I go over you know

just some techniques to make it easier

there are some terms that you want to

avoid and Alex goes over that in video

nine and in the tenth video I go over a

case study where

published about 200 posts in about five

months some people have probably heard

of this before

and in general I published a lot of

content and I grew a site from about

$100 per month in January of 2016 to

about 14,000 $800 by that December of

course that that takes into account a

wonderful retail season but nevertheless

it grew a lot traffic went up a lot in

the earnings stayed very high for the

next year and 2017 the site made about

70,000 which some people will say that's

not much some people will say that's a

lot but nevertheless 70,000 is for most

people a pretty significant amount of

money you can at least take a few

vacations or a whole lot of vacations

some people could take a year off ok I'm

going back to the chat here and Alex

for a little while no live streams I

went on vacation for about 10 days it

was really it was pretty fun I haven't

taken a vacation in a pretty long time

so it was fantastic to like unplug and I

general I checked the email like twice

that's pretty good and I have some very

cool like vlog footage that my editor

will have to sift through and hopefully

tell a decent story it it just looks

like we drink beer and ate food on the

west coast which is actually fairly

accurate so for the people that are just

joining this live stream is to announce

we're sort of making sure that

everything is put together properly so I

have a playlist on my side alex has one

on his side videos are on both of our

channels and there's a contest I'll

quickly go over the high level points of

probably the rest of the videos so

stickler for following the rules just in

general and basically if you deviate

from what I'm describing it'll make it

so it doesn't need to be in the playlist

it doesn't count if it's some other

video about the keyword golden ratio or

anything has to be in the playlist and

basically I will tally up the entries

when you leave comments in each

additional comment gets you another

entry and then we'll randomize it we'll

select it at random and then you know

scheduled meeting basically if you have

questions just ask in the comments that

Oh Canada is entry if you know the

answers to questions you can answer

other people's questions so that's a

great way to sort of form a community

and help each other out

and people have different takes so you

know just everyone be nice you know

everyone be polite that's kind of how

Alex and I work yeah so just be nice and

polite and you'll be good to go that

said you know no spammy comments I mean

if you're just commenting like first or

some nonsense doesn't count I'm gonna

delete it from my channel I don't know

how close you're gonna watch Alex but no

garbage only value so if you have a

valid question you could ask it but if

you're if you're just saying hey great

video it's a little fuzzy if you did

that every time that's a little fuzzy so

bring bring some value to the game other

than that if you share from more entries

that'll count too so if you share on

YouTube or or on Facebook Pinterest

whatever wherever your your sharing

stuff just take a screenshot and send a

link to where you shared it and that

will be you know counted as another

entry for you know each valid share so

should be cool I think it'll be really

awesome and as far as the content of the

playlist it's really a master class and

that's what we called it a key word

golden ratio a master class it's

primarily oriented around affiliate

marketing but it really works for

anything so if people happen to use or

different monetization it stands you

I mean they they start at five thousand

dollars I know I was like hey business

is good huh

awesome well I've just I've been over

the accountants today I just had to do

my my taxes on that and I've got quite a

big tax bill and they're saying you know

you need to spend a bit more money buy

some stuff for the business so I was

like okay what the hell is going the

Apple shop and do it yeah that's you

know that's what they told me to because

our margins or so I mean this is really

folks this is like totally behind the

scenes like yeah our margins are low in

most a business usually spends like 78

percent I mean the only males 20% profit

generally most businesses but as a

nephew was you tuber or any of that kind

of stuff yeah say if you're working from

home you haven't got hardly any expenses

you can put a little bit of coffee fruit

maybe and maybe a little bit of rent and

a little bit of power that's all fine

well it is over here anyway

yeah but that still doesn't add up to a

lot yeah yes you go you gotta buy a new

camera new iMacs whatever new idea

that's right yeah this camera back here

yeah okay I see Helens on and Helen is

asking about the the list so we're we're

gonna publish them and just yeah she's

working in the chat give it a click does

working and then the other cool thing

for people that Alex if it's okay I'll

kind of talk about the behind the scenes

so like when you create a playlist and

people you know watch the playlist and

people continue to watch the playlist

Google Google YouTube sees that trend in

like these videos will probably be

recommended and other you know keyword

golden ratio videos as well so if you

find one of them on our

which you should be able to find them

all you'll probably be able to find your

way to the playlists very easily and

then like I said we sort of went back

and forth so half of them run

Alex's channel half of Mehran mine to

sort of share the love

as far as watch time you know and I

appreciate it Alex by the way to us five

you catching me up anyway on subscribers

I'm happy to share with you crowd I

think we share a lot of subscribers

anyway yeah and it's good you know a lot

of people were saying you know we're

were their favorites have appreciate

that but you know it's a good balance

because I covered things from a

different side and a lot of people found

you because of like your your

WooCommerce I guess platform of yeah the

thing is some yeah yeah neatly different

from mine so it's a good compliment nice

contrast I think it works well and then

we got so did you guys seen the the link

videos get a view so I guess a few of

you are fine yeah good excellent

as you can ask any question you like

tonight we obviously we are talking

about key word golden ratio and keyword

research and all that kinda stuff but

you can ask us anything it's fine

you could you could ask some stuff so in

Alex we yeah I think people could tell

us a little more scrambling just a tad

just cuz it's hard to publish everything

and get everything all done at once but

how much time do you have Alex just to

you wanna say like to accompany our know

nine across my house oh okay perfect so

will will say that just so we don't you

know we got another stuff to do

yeah I don't need to there's a few

little things that we need to know the

videos we need to go for and add all the

end screen click things and all that

stuff yeah beautiful what's up so quick

note I know a lot this is kind of

related to some live streams that I that

I've done and just in general there was

an algorithm update in the last like

month six weeks or so a lot of people

saw

traffic dip people took different

actions some people didn't do anything

and I know like Duke for example did

some did some work to help improve

things generally saw what I hear is a

full recovery if not more I did talk to

a couple other people and my thought is

it's an algorithm like test not everyone

was affected that sort of thing

in most of the time if you don't get a

penalty I usually just just wait because

if it's a test and you change a bunch of

things then if the test is removed or

things are changed or something like

that

you don't know like you've lost your

data it's like tainted data so I know a

couple people who didn't change anything

and then they their traffic recovered

and it actually went up a little bit so

I hope if you had you know good content

on your site you were putting the time

in that your traffic recovered handful

of people seems like they they were

impacted and in general it seems like
