Amazon Associates Changes Commission Structure in US - Impact to Niche Websites #Best Education Page #Online Earning

hey it's doug cummington here and i'm

from digitech project so I am going to

tell you a little bit about the new

Amazon associate programs fee schedule

so previously right they use this

variable standard program fee and it was

based on the volume that you sold so if

you sold a lot of products you earned a

higher commission rate up to eight and a

half percent so the big affiliates sites

with a lot of traffic they tended to be

at that aight nap % now other amazon

associate programs actually have you

know different payout structures so for

example the UK version they sort of base

it on the products that are sold and i'm

going to scroll up so I'm displaying the

Amazon affiliate program the associate

programs now it's a new thick standard

program fee rate based on the product

category so depending on you know what

your site is about the content that you

have and the products of people by you

could be making as low as say one

percent or you know up to ten percent

for certain items so this is a you know

interesting to see in this format here

they mentioned like industrial products

and different stuff like that another

part that i want to show you and i'll

have to pause here for a second in a

back so this was just published in the

last couple days here and this is the

new associates operating agreement i

mentioned what's changed and this is

effective on march first which is just

less than a week from today and

essentially they've they've revised the

what they call the fixed standard

program fees are sorry they removed the

variable program fee rates and it

replaced it with fixed rates and here is

category and it you know ranges from

zero percent for gift cards and wine up

to ten percent for the digital video

games luxury beauty amazon coins you

know this eight percent category is you

know still in the realm for those high

you know high okay out affiliates the

sold a lot of products is sort of in the

same realm which is nice so it's like

furniture home home improvement on a

garden Pet Products & pantry so right

now I'm still analyzing the information

so what I do have access to is you know

my own amazon affiliate sites and the

data so i could go back and pull

basically all the data so i can see what

the actual impact will be so i could

divide things up into the category there

in apply the rate that will be coming

out on march first and see where land so

so if it was toys then instead of me

getting and a half percent of an only

three percent which is the less than

fifty percent that's very bad but if it

was something different say like Amazon

fire devices and echo devices seven

percent well that's you know a percent

in half lower but you know it's still

something like twenty percent in back so

quite significant below this video I'm

going to post a link to a little bit of

analysis that I have so far and then I'm

going to actually update that post with

even more information additionally next

Tuesday so februari 28 they'll be doing

a webinar just a free webinar where I

will talk more about this stuff after

I've had some time to analyze data pull

some data from my sites and some of my

peers sites they're kind enough to share

it with me and then I could look and

actually show people like the impact

that it will have so one thing to note

is I believe you know while some

affiliates that has been you're making

money or

they're going to be having a you know an

immediate reduction right if someone

let's say they sell mostly musical

instruments they go to from eight and a

half percent down to six percent is this

notes here then you know that's a big

hit and that's you know lower but if you

if you're just starting a site and you

some musical instruments when you start

up you're going to be at six percent

right away where previously you know if

we look at the old the old structure

here if you are just getting started in

you're only selling like one to six

items then you're going to be at four

percent so you know there's a small

small window where when you're just

starting out you're actually going to

probably make a little bit more than you

would have but of course when you look

at the overall structure here it is

generally a reduction for most items

okay so leave it at that and wait until
