My YouTube and Live Video Studio Office Tour! 👀 #Best Education Page #Online Earning

My YouTube and Live Video Studio Office Tour! 👀

- Hey, what are you doing here?
Oh well thank you, and welcome to SPI Studios.
Actually, I know a lot of you love studio tours.
A lot of you might remember SPI TV episode two,
where I walk you through my home office,
which was a lot of fun.
I strapped a hero cam on my head.
Well I don't have a hero cam on my head this time,
but I have a hero behind the camera,
and that is Caleb Wojcik, who is from diyvideoguy.com.
He's my videographer,
and he's going to take us on a tour today of our studio.
This is actually a brand-new studio,
an office space that I leased,
which is about 668 square feet,
not seven minutes from my house.
Six, not seven.
And what's really cool, is I can just come in here,
it's already set up for video,
meaning live video, recorded video,
and fun things like this.
And we're gonna walk you through the space now.
So we are actually right now in the foyer,
or the lobby, as we like to call it.
We are throwing around the idea of like a waiting room,
but that almost sounds like we're about to go into like,
surgery or something.
So it's the lobby.
And this is a cool spot where people can come in and meet.
And when I say people, I mean, yeah,
there's going to be some people who come to town,
maybe some of you who come to San Diego.
And there's time for us to hang out.
Well, this is where it would happen.
It's nice, because I can not have that in my own house.
As much as I love you all,
I don't want to just invite a whole bunch of people
into my home.
So, this is the next best thing.
But, more than that, my team's going to come to town.
People I collaborate with, other people.
So we have some cool plants and stuff,
and we have some really cool stuff over here,
which I want to talk about.
I want to thank Haley B,
Hayley B Hopp on Instagram.
She came in from, I think it was Wyoming, flew down.
She's been a fan of SPI for a while,
and she wanted to give back,
and it just so happened that the timing worked out.
She painted this mural for me, which is super cool
As you can see, it says "serve first,"
which is sort of like my mantra for doing business
and what I teach other people to do with their business.
Serve your audience first.
So that's what this is about.
You can see a lot of symbolism in here too.
Obviously it says "smart passive income" down there.
You'll see a trumpet over here, a treble clef.
You'll also see some waves, and a lot of Hawaiian themes.
My kids both have Hawaiian names,
and my wife and I love Hawaiian culture.
A microphone here for a podcast,
a pencil to kind of represent teaching and education,
and also Pencil of Promise, which I'm an advisor for.
And a few other things too.
And you can kind of have at it, and look around.
There's a Hawaiian hook up there, which, fun fact,
that I actually have a tattoo,
I'm not gonna tell you where that is.
We can play that game later.
But anyway, speaking of my wife April,
I want to just thank here really quick here, publicly,
because it was actually her idea to have this space,
be what it is.
Because initially, we just wanted the space for storage,
and it was going to be an address that we could use
for a real estate company that we're starting.
But, she was like,
"you should just set up a studio,
"get all the video crap out of our house,
"and actually film videos there with Caleb."
And I was like,
"yeah, this is a great idea."
And, little did she know, she created a monster.
Because I definitely invested a large sum of money
to put this together.
But it's already paying me back,
because we're going to be filming courses here.
We're already going live to promote a number of things,
and also just growing the audience and creating exposure,
so that's really cool.
You actually might have already noticed
this monitor back here.
This is a monitor that is actually showing what's happening
in the studio, which I'll show you in just a moment.
That's actually where all the magic happens,
and I'll take you there in just a minute.
But before we leave this room and go into the Green Room,
I want to share with you,
we have some more thank-you cards here.
You might remember, from SPI TV episode two,
there's a board, five feet by five feet
with a bunch of these on it.
Well, I ran out of room.
Thanks to you guys, thanks to all the thank-you notes
that you've been sending
for all the work that I've been doing to help you.
Well, I want to feature you guys,
so I love your thank-you notes, and so keep them coming
if you can, thank you.
But I'm going to feature them here,
and this whole room is going to be blown out with them.
And we are already adding more as we speak.
So, let's go to the Green Room,
one of my favorite rooms in this space.
So why is it called the Green Room?
Well, a Green Room, for those of you who don't know,
in like show business, or TV,
is a room where people hang out before they go
and either get filmed, or go onstage, or go and speak.
And this is the Green Room where people are gonna come,
I'm gonna come and plan things.
There's a nice giant whiteboard here.
There's also this whiteboard here.
You can see, one of my favorite things in the world,
Post-It notes,
that I've been using to plan actually,
some videos we are shooting right now,
actually right after this video's done.
So this is where we plan.
This is the war room.
This is the command center where we come up with ideas
and then go into the studio and film.
So that's why this is called the Green Room.
And not only that.
I mean, there are elements of green in this room.
Big shout-out to Christy Johnson,
who is somebody who designed this space.
She actually helped do design work with me
on a number of different things,
like "One Day Business Breakthrough" with Chris Tucker.
But she helped put and pick a lot of the furniture
and put them in here, and made it look really nice.
We have a "Back to the Future" poster here.
Obviously a lot of you know that that's my favorite movie.
We have some really cool shelving, and more plants in here.
Again, motifs of green, because it's a Green Room,
kind of obvious,
but also some inspirational things.
This is really cool, "just tacos."
That's all you need to be happy, right?
Just tacos.
And just some other random stuff
that we put here.
Some of my favorite biographies and books.
And then this, I have to very much thank my team for.
This was the office-warming present that they gave me.
This is "Back to the Future" one, two, and three,
signed, like legit signed, not just like photo copied,
but legit signed, by the actors and actresses in that movie
and 35 millimeter negatives from the original film.
Like, how baller is that?
One, two, and three.
So cool.
There's only 500 of these available.
So thank you to my team for that, it's so cool.
So we've already done some good planning.
Here, there's a nice table here.
Actually, what's really cool about this,
is it has this little storage spot,
where you can store more Post-It notes, or batteries,
or other things.
And we've already utilized this space quite well.
It's very warm in here,
and it's just a very inspirational space to be in,
to come up with ideas, to brainstorm,
and then take that stuff in the other room.
And I want to mention, by the way,
that this table is from Ikea.
So, you don't even have to spend a lot of money
to have a nice space,
with some cool stuff in it.
So anyway, let's go to the Mission Control room,
that has all the software,
and all the stuff that runs the show.
So I'll take you there right now.
This is the bathroom.
We don't need to talk about what happens in there.
And this is Mission Control.
There's some stuff on the floor there,
so don't worry about that.
But this is the room where myself, or Caleb,
or somebody else can come over
and actually start managing the show.
When we go live, this is the software we use.
When we record courses and stuff,
this is the software we use to do that.
What's really cool,
is you can start to manage all the different camera angles
that you have.
As you can see already here on the screen,
we have the main setup,
and you'll see exactly what that looks like
in the studio in just a minute.
But we also have some additional camera angles.
We also have this sort of couch cam angle too,
and you can put graphics in there too,
so this is for, when I was launching and going live
with "Smart from Scratch."
You can even put some text in there as well,
and start pushing and pulling them onto the screen.
As you can see, I just put
"Pat Flynn's Smart Passive Income."
You can do like,
follow me on Instagram, or whatever.
It's kind of cool.
So, the nice thing about this is,
it's one spot for everything.
Now, the hard thing about it,
is that it's actually on Windows.
This is a PC.
And I haven't used one for over 10 years.
And so, it wasn't very fun to learn how to,
or re-learn how to use it,
'cause I was actually a devoted PC user
until I got onto Mac,
and now I have to re-learn PC.
It's not that hard.
What I'm using here is a proprietary software
from livestream.com.
That's the whole system here.
And it's great.
I can actually manage it remotely,
and control it from inside the studio.
So I don't have to have people come in.
I can run the show by myself.
I'm still learning how to do it,
actually, we just finished decorating,
and I've only been using the space
for about a couple weeks.
But, it's kinda cool, right?
'Cause there's just so many possibilities, right?
Okay.
So this is Control Room,
and there's all this audio stuff that's all hooked up,
and I had David and Luria from livestreamingpros.com.
Livestreamingpros.com.
If you want to set up a system like this,
that's the place where you can go to learn how to do it.
So, gotta thank them publicly.
And, why don't we just go right to the studio,
and check it out.
So here we go.
We've also got a little break room,
which is kind of cool too.
A mini fridge, for waters and stuff.
And this is where all the magic happens.
This is a studio with multiple sets,
that is very versatile.
You can actually change the sets around;
I'll show you how we do that in a minute.
But let me walk you to set number one here.
And this is where, if you've seen "Ask Pat Live,"
which happens Friday 1:30pm on my Facebook page,
this is where it happens.
This is the "Ask Pat Live" logo.
I want to thank,
there's a lot of people I need to thank
for making all this happen.
This is from Pete Sven, from DIY Pete.
This is actually rolled steel.
And it actually lights up from behind too,
but you won't be able to see it
'cause the lights are on right now.
But he plasma cut this, and cut it out for me.
He was also a fan of SPI.
I actually helped him start his business.
I thank him so much for crediting me for that.
And as the result, he wanted to thank me
by putting a sign, which you see on "Ask Pat Live"
every Friday 1:30pm on my Facebook page.
And have like, the famous "Ask Pat" backpack here too.
Which is on a hanger specifically for this bad boy here,
which you might see at conferences that I go to.
This is really cool,
because if you turn around,
you can actually see me on the monitor there,
and you can see that we have all that stuff
that we set up in the other room,
happening right there.
I'm going to actually show you something really cool.
So if you look at the monitor really quick,
I have this really cool desk,
that if I just push a button,
(mechanical whirring)
(vocalizing)
So this is a very cool desk from UpDesk, a standing desk.
But you can use it to go down and sit down if you'd like.
But that really changes the flow
of how one actually perceives the video.
So this, like sitting down,
it's going to be a little bit more casual, right?
And with standing and removing the UpDesk from the screen,
which you simply just have to press down all the way,
it makes it look more tutorial-style, more engaging,
in a different kind of way.
So, we also have this bookshelf here,
which can make its way into different videos as well,
just to add a little bit of depth to it,
and just, you can start adding books,
and whatever elements you want.
I have a little bit of a cheers sign.
A lot of you know if you get emails from me,
I always say "cheers" at the end.
And, this is the "Will it Fly?" book,
and an "Ask Pat" t-shirt, which I gave away,
on "Ask Pat Live" every Friday.
And, again, storage for when things are not being used.
So this is easily removable.
It's actually a bookshelf that is on these little sliders
that you can move really easily back-and-forth like that.
So it's almost like it's on wheels, but not really.
Now, I need to show you this really cool camera.
We have velcro with all the remotes here.
If you look up here,
you'll see this camera, it looks really fancy.
It's called a PTZ camera, or a point, tilt, zoom camera.
And you can pre-program it with numbers on this remote.
So if I were to press different numbers, for example,
you see it change positions.
And those are preset positions.
And actually, if you go over the remote monitor
here on my computer,
you'll see that I can change things on the fly.
So let me bring up that screen there.
And you'll actually see it on the monitor too.
And now if I pressed number one,
it changes that angle to zoom in,
to actually the computer you're seeing here.
So, it creates a really cool sort of intermediate view
if I'm answering comments on the live screen,
and kind of looking at my camera,
instead of me looking down like this, facing this way,
you can look down on me from over my shoulder.
And it kind of makes it feel like you're in the room with me
which is really cool,
and having this handy dandy,
I was going to say handy dandy notebook,
which is from "Blue's Clues,"
but I don't know why I thought of that right now.
But a handy dandy remote,
to be able to change the angles on the fly.
Again I can do most of the production myself.
It's kind of going to take a little bit of choreography
to do that, which is really cool.
So let me go back, and actually,
we have another view, which I want to share with you.
I almost dropped it there.
And that is the couch cam view.
So, we'll talk about the camera equipment that we're using
in just a minute,
and we'll kind of look up a little bit,
and look at the lights and stuff.
But this is the couch cam view
that you can see on the camera here,
and this is where we sit down.
So let me go sit down.
So if ever somebody comes over,
and we want to have a dual interview
from this point of view,
we can sit together on this couch here,
there's actually a microphone down there already set up.
And it feeds right into that camera there.
And that feeds into the control room that you saw.
It all goes through the ceiling,
and you can see me there too.
Hey guys, nice to see ya.
Now the cameras that we're using,
actually let me get back up here.
These are black magic cameras.
I've never used these cameras before.
These were recommended by David and Luria
from Live Streaming Pros.
And they're top-quality cameras.
The one that you're looking at right here,
is a 4K, it actually does record and film in 4K.
Like movie-quality stuff, which is really cool.
And then the other one that you saw earlier
for the couch specifically,
was just a 1080P.
But the lens on it is super cool,
and I don't even know the specs to even share with you.
There's apertures and lenses and dials,
I don't know what I'm saying.
But anyway, we'll list the things that I'm using
just so you can see kind of the cost,
and what it might be like if you were to get one as well.
And then we have some really nice tripods on wheels,
so we can move things around.
Again, very versatile.
You create a lot of different scenes,
and a lot of different moments here for whatever course
that you might be creating,
or livestream that you want to do.
So, let's talk about these microphones.
These are kind of, if you look up a little,
they're kind of sticking out of nowhere here.
These are road shock on mics.
They are very good at directional.
I mean it almost reminds you of,
if you've seen a TV sitcom,
and have the camera zoomed out,
and you see a bunch of people holding those long sticks.
That's essentially what this thing is.
So when I'm standing here,
let me switch to the front view
so in case you turn around and see,
this mic is literally pointing right to my mouth.
But if you were to turn around,
and look at the, hey Caleb.
(laughing)
If you were to turn around and look,
right here is where the camera ends,
so you can't even see it.
But if you were to zoom out just a little bit,
you would actually see the microphone, not the camera.
There's also a lot of LED lights that are in the house.
I think ikan or econ, I-k-a-n is one of the brands,
for most of these.
And we have right now,
five lights pointing in different directions.
Really what you need to get started
is just three-point lighting.
Two pointing at an angle to you, and one in the back,
to kind of flush out the shadows.
And we have everything set up and ready to go.
So I can literally just walk in,
I can use my Google Home to turn things on,
and I can just push a couple buttons on the computer,
and I'm ready to go and film.
What this is going to do for me,
like why did I get this studio in the first place?
Well, not only to get the video stuff out of the house,
but to give me a spot
where I can walk in and focus on creation.
On creating videos, which are going to be a huge part
of my business moving forward.
I think we all know that videos are going to be very huge
for a lot of us in the future.
I think it was Google who said that by 2020,
90% of all consumption of content will be video.
So I'm investing in the future here.
Like I said, it's already started to pay off a bit,
and with the more courses that are coming out,
I came out with "Smart from Scratch" not too long ago.
You can sign up for the wait list at smartfromscratch.com.
I also have the first public launch of my upcoming course
poweruppodcasting.com,
it's coming out July 17th through July 24th,
and that's going to be up at poweruppodcasting.com.
And more courses, down the road,
based on the recommendations and the feedback
and the requests coming from the SPI audience.
I mean this gives me a spot where I can just walk in,
create those videos, I can go live,
I can have it be consistent,
I can have it be walk in and record,
or walk in and broadcast.
And it's such a cool thing.
And plus, because I've invested a little bit of money
to put this forward, I'm definitely going to be using it.
So there are a lot of things in my favor,
to work, to help me produce content for you,
and I hope you enjoy what is to come.
So I'm going to walk you out.
Actually before I do that, I'm going to say,
hey Google, party off.
- [Google Home Voice] Okay, turning the party powering off.
- All right.
So let's head out.
And I will see you,
next time.
But again, if you want to catch me live
on any of my channels, you can catch me live.
We go simulcast on YouTube, Periscope, and Facebook,
all at the same time.
If you want to join me on Facebook,
Facebook.com/smartpassiveincome,
youtube.com/smartpassiveincome,
and also on Periscope, @PatFlynn on Twitter,
if you want to follow me there.
Again, just, thank you so much.
I hope you enjoy this.
Let me know what you think,
and make sure to catch me live,
or catch the courses that I come out with, or anything else.
And you'll see a lot of behind-the-scenes
here on Instagram as well,
if you go to @PatFlynn on Instagram.
I do a lot of Instagram stories now.
And, anything else?
I think we're good.
Thank you so much.
The links, and all the things that we mentioned
are going to be in the description below,
or in this blog poster and this YouTube video.
Wherever it is, thank you so much.
I got some work to do, so if you wouldn't mind,
I gotta head out.
I gotta go film so, thanks, thanks.
Bye.
Thank you.
