Stefan James Christian Testimony | How I Became A Christian & My Spiritual Journey ❤️

hey everyone this is Stefan James from
project life mastery and today I'm going
to share with you something a little bit
different something that I don't
normally talk about here on my channel
and that's my spiritual life my
spiritual journey and beliefs how I
became a Christian a follower of Christ
and how that's enriched my life now I
know this is a topic that can be
controversial to some not everyone's
comfortable with this topic and it might
even trigger certain things within you
you know they always say don't talk
about religion don't talk about religion
and Here I am talking about religion so
I understand the sensitivity of this
topic and I don't know what you believe
if you're an atheist or agnostic or a
Christian or a Jew or a Muslim or a
Buddhist or Hindu whatever you believe I
want to let you know that I'm completely
respectful towards your beliefs I'm not
here to convert you or make you feel
like my beliefs are right and yours are
wrong I'm for everybody I'm loving for
everyone and I want the best for
everyone and I understand we all have
different experiences and beliefs and
upbringing and I'm very sensitive to
that and I'm not here to offend you this
is not a religious youtube channel my
videos aren't religious or anything like
that this is one video out of a thousand
that I wanted to share with you because
this is a powerful experience and a
powerful part of myself you know I
started project life mastery as a way
for me to share the journey that I'm on
towards mastering every part of myself
and my life I want to be the best
version of myself and whenever I come
across something that's enriched my life
or benefited me I feel compelled to
share that with you and if you benefit
from it amazing great I love that and if
you don't benefit that's okay too
not everything I share if not everything
I say to do is for everybody but at the
same time I felt it'd be disingenuous
for me to not share this with you
because this is something that's been a
powerful and personal part of my life
and it is a big part of who I am and
it's more powerful than a lot of the
other things that I discuss here on this
channel and that's why I felt compelled
to share that because I want to be an
alignment with my integrity my values my
honesty my transparency that I've
started this channel here with at the
beginning so I want to say that I don't
want
offend anyone here if you're someone
that is offended by a topic like this
and it's a very sensitive issue for you
I understand that and might even
recommend not to watch this video and
that's okay whatever you want to do
that's okay if you have more of an open
mind you're more curious great and if
you're maybe a Christian like myself
great you might benefit from this a lot
and hearing my story so with that being
said I want to share a few a little bit
about my journey and about myself in
this way and I've never really shared
these things before and so I'm trying to
formulate some of my thoughts and I
don't want to ramble on too much either
so I want to be respectful of your time
but I want to share the most important
elements of this and kind of how I got
to where I am and who I am today so I I
grew up a Christian Greek Orthodox
actually my dad's Greek and I was
baptized when I was a baby
and when I grew up as a Christian I
didn't really you know we went to church
we weren't like a very religious family
we went to church twice a year maybe the
occasional time here and there as well
Christmas Easter and then you know every
once in a while we'd go to church but my
parents really didn't impose religion on
me much or anything like that now I grew
up Greek Orthodox but I don't speak or
understand Greek my dad's Greek my mom
isn't and so we went to a church where
everything was in Greek and I didn't
really understand anything I didn't
understand anything at all when I was
young I was gonna bored at church I
didn't enjoy going to church and I think
a lot of people might have that
experience growing up you know where
they're you know they're just not a fan
of religion whatever they had certain
experiences as a child or through their
parents or through the church or
whatever might be that can unfortunately
taint their experience with God and
Christ or whatever it is later in life
but for me you know I always believed in
God but I didn't really have much of a
relationship with God and it wasn't
until when I was 70 years old I started
getting into self-development and I you
guys know my story I got into wanting to
improve my social skills and my
insecurities and my self-esteem and my
confidence and my dating life and I was
on this journey of trying to transform
myself and I did but when I was around
21 years old
I kind of felt a lot of the self
development that I was doing was more
surface level stuff you know maybe you
can relate to this a lot of its
like goal-setting and habits and
routines and rituals and things like
that which are tremendously beneficial
and valuable and I believe and have
shared with you guys but I I know
there's a lot more deeper that I wanted
to explore that I'd never really did so
I actually had an experience when I was
around 21 years old I did something
called ayahuasca I'm not sure if you've
heard of this before ayahuasca is is
known as the spirit medicine in parts of
South America they use it in tribes and
they use it to heal heal trauma from
people's lives whether it's depression
or anxiety or features or whatever it
might be
it's a Hallucigenia certain way and you
have a hallucinogenic experience which
can be quite profound and spiritual and
life-changing and so for me quick story
as 21s at my friend's house we're having
all-you-can-eat sushi
another friend of mine de peche calls me
up and says hey Steph and there's this
shaman from Peru
that's might a town here they're doing
something called ayahuasca he explained
it a little bit I had no idea what it
was he said do you want to do it and I
was like all right sure let's do it I
was very open-minded at that stage of my
life and still am a little bit naive at
that stage in my life too but I was I'm
for anything that can improve my life so
I was like awesome great I'm open to it
I'll try it I did a quick like Wikipedia
search on it but I ended up going out it
was like an hour out in a suburb from
Vancouver Canada so it was in a place
called Langley and actually funny enough
it was that later someone who became one
of my spiritual mentors sati and Raja
was actually at his property there which
is quite unique I've been great man I
got to have him on my channel at some
point
anyways went out there I had no idea
what to expect you know I was a little
bit resistant actually because some of
the people I was meeting there are these
ultra spiritual people where they'd
greet you and they'd be like hi how are
you and they're gonna hug you and give
you a kiss and the very loving and I was
like at that stage in my life okay this
is weird I wasn't as comfortable with
myself I guess back then but anyways I
ended up having I ended up doing this
ayahuasca ceremony and the shaman was
there and you basically sit down and you
drink the liquid and within 30 minutes
it hits you and you have a crazy
crazy experience everyone's experience
is different but for most people
including myself what happens is all
your demons come to the surface all the
trauma all the things you suppress from
your past in your life all of it comes
up to the surface and you've got to
confront it and face it and deal with it
and it's very uncomfortable and the more
that you resist it the worse that it
gets so it feels like you've got you
went to hell it feels like the most
traumatic most painful thing that you've
ever been through in your life and part
of the ayahuasca journey is learning how
to let go and surrender because the more
you hold on the worse it gets when you
let go and surrender that's when you
release that all that pain in your life
and you you end up becoming I guess more
enlightened where you know you come to a
state of just total bliss and freedom
happiness and joy so for me it was a
very life-changing experience and might
be worth you looking into and exploring
about yourself and what happened from
that experience though is it really
opened me up and thinking about life and
ways never did before it made me
question things and never thought it
before maybe think about life in the
sense of like how are we all here and
where did we come from and what happens
when we die questions that I never asked
that a lot of people never asked because
the answers you don't know there's a lot
of uncertainty unknown that when you
really question things and a lot of
people want to live in that world of
certainty and for me that actually it
started me on a path of exploring
spirituality more and I kind of first
started with more than new-age
self-development spirituality you know
like the secrets for example the book
and the movie about the law of
attraction and you manifest things and
whatever energy you put out and I
believe in those things I think there's
you know provided tremendous value to my
life I ended up you know reading the
book the power of now by Eckhart Tolle
and a new earth and learning about
living in the present moment some great
valuable lessons from that that have you
know really benefitted from Wayne Dyer
and Deepak Chopra and Michael singer and
many other spiritual teachers out there
that had really enriched my life you
know Dan Millman the peaceful warrior
all these great books and resources and
so I started to explore that more and I
started to develop a bit of a
relationship with God and it really
enriched my life in
many great ways when you have a feeling
that there's something beyond yourself a
higher power something supernatural it
just really makes you go through life
the difficulties and the good times
knowing that you're not alone and that
you're being guided and that things in
your life they're happening they're
happening for a higher reason and
purpose that you might not understand in
the moment but you trust in something
greater than yourself
that it's happening for your benefit or
something that's gonna allow you to be
better off and so I I explored that and
then later on in my life too I wanted to
really learn about all the different
religions out there all the different
belief systems and so I started studying
the Bible for the first time the Old
Testament in the New Testament I started
studying the Quran I started studying
the Bhagavad Gita and the daodejing and
you know different belief systems
because I didn't ever want to just kind
of believe something blindly you know
I'm a seeker of truth and I wanted to
explore and understand every every
belief system that's there and I don't
I'm not an expert by the way on all of
these I have maybe more elementary
understanding I'd say of the different
religions that are out there but I
started to pull a lot of valuable things
from that you know Buddhism I enjoy i
get so much benefits from whether it's
non-attachment and meditation and a lot
of the principles from Buddhism I really
would take with me and that would
enhance my life and the same thing can
be said about all the different religion
you know religion belief systems that
are out there
so I kind of started dabbling I'd say
and the different belief systems and
pulling pieces from it and I wanted to
understand I started to go into church
and different churches as well because I
wanted to understand and just really
gain experience was my main goal I think
sometimes belief is a poor substitute
for experience if you could have an
experience that's much more powerful to
support a belief and so I you know went
to mosques and synagogues and churches
and you know just kind of went on a
little bit of a journey over a few years
of doing that and then you know I just
kind of felt myself being more pulled
towards Christ and you know a lot of the
Bible really spoke to me and I had
certain personal experiences
of Christ coming into my life and God
speaking to me that it's hard to
articulate and explain but it just
really enriched my life in so many ways
for me you know one thing I found is
that you know I was going about this
life and I felt there was always this
void in myself you know something that
was missing that I was trying to fill up
you know you try to fill it up through
money success goals relationships people
material things learning self
development all these things but as
someone that's been on this journey of
self development for over 15 years
pretty obsessively nothing nothing
filled that void and I had a realization
I did I did something called the 12
steps and 12 steps is usually for
originated from Alcoholics Anonymous and
I've never been an alcoholic I hardly
drink I don't do drugs
you know marijuana here and there you
know I don't have any like serious
addictions but I looked at and explored
the 12 steps as a path of self
development of spirituality and I've
been to a a meetings by the way to and
it's great again experience to be able
to learn to be exposed to that but one
core principle that I really benefited
from with the 12-step program is the
first step is admitting that your life
is unmanageable on your own and that's a
very freeing step in the 12-step journey
for me I realized that I've been trying
to fix my life and improve my life all
on my own I've been trying to find the
solutions and the answers and learn from
mentors and all that which is great and
beneficial but but I never I I
eventually came to the understanding
that I can never fix and solve
everything on my own that there are
certain parts of myself this void that
can never be filled on anything that's
natural that I needed something
supernatural on my nothi in my life I
needed a surrender to a higher power I
needed to let go of the ego and
believing you know certain things and
trusting is something greater than
myself and asking that higher source God
Jesus for help for guidance to pray and
build a relationship with that and that
was very freeing for me was
very transformational I had moments over
many years right hit rock bottom and I
admitted you know I can't do this on my
own I can't fix my life I need I needed
I needed God I needed Jesus and I would
have these experiences where I pray and
open myself up to it and I I can't
describe it guys but it was just very
powerful having God come into my life
and building that relationship with
Jesus and giving my life to that and
through that over the years that I've
been a Christian and a follower of
Christ and I'm not a perfect Christian
I'm gonna say that and put that out
there I'm I'm you know I've sinned in my
life I've made many mistakes I've lied
and she didn't stolen and done stupid
things and bad things and I've confessed
all of that and I asked God for
forgiveness and one of the greatest
benefits have gotten in my life from
being a Christian is it's made me such a
better person I always knew that I was a
good person I knew in my heart I knew
that my intention was always good and
pure and you know I've always been a
good person I've never committed a crime
or done anything illegal and I just knew
that I've always been good but at times
in my life I felt I was misguided I got
off that on track I got self-centered
ego you know I you know this the stupid
things that I ended up doing and some of
us also can relate to in her in high
school and in her early 20s that I went
through a little bit of so there's parts
of that that I feel that being a
Christian is this made me such a better
human being you know it's given me a
higher standard to live - in my life
it's forced me to be more loving more
generous more honest more giving you
know it's it's you know my my role model
my mentor Jesus Christ is is that
example for me who I strive to be like
and I never will be because Jesus was
sinless and you know we've all sinned
and he's come for us for that to forgive
our sins but you know I know that I have
sinned and I'm going to sin and having
that higher power there that can help
steer me right on the
right track and help me be a better
person that's been one of us valuable
parts of being a Christian as well as
just that deep relationship that I have
never being alone always having a higher
power there to support me to guide me to
love me to ask for help to have that
relationship with and I'm still
exploring that and going deeper and
deeper with it there's so much more room
and I'm excited for that
but it's truly been a life-changing
experience for me in part of my life so
for me when I surround surrendered my
life to Christ and became a Christian in
this way by the way last year I'm sorry
this year a few months ago actually I
got baptized again and I actually went
to Israel and to the Jordan River where
Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist
and I wanted to rededicate my life to
Christ which is something I always
wanted to do I was waiting for the
perfect moment which never comes but it
was pretty incredible to be able to do
that myself and Tatiana did and it was
one of the most emotional and powerful
moments in my life and I may be sure a
picture with you guys here for you guys
as well from that experience but it was
just really surreal to do that in the
Jordan River which is where Jesus was
baptized by John the Baptist but you
know guys I can't put into words how my
life is so much better than it was
before now if a video like this came up
10 years ago I wouldn't have been ready
for a video like this for me I remember
you know I I had a lot of conflicting
beliefs around religion and I get it and
I understand there's a lot of
controversy controversy I mean there's
in the Catholic Church there's
corruption there's people that you know
in certain churches and organized
religion I I get that and I'm not a fan
of some of that what goes on there are
some churches I think that are good and
some maybe not as much some people some
priests and pastors all that I think
every organized anything has has some of
that going on and it's unfortunate I
think that kind of paints a negative
picture and experience for people and I
think really the ultimate thing for me
is that relationship that I have that
personal relationship with God in Christ
and you know just finding a good church
community to be a part of and turning
sorry turning to the Bible and going to
that is a source of wisdom and guidance
and to you know I look at it I speak to
God every day through prayer and God
speaks to me through the scriptures and
everything and there's yes there's some
parts of the Bible and scriptures that I
don't understand and that I struggle
with you know around the homosexuality
and things like that that I I don't have
words for I don't have an explanation
explanation for and so I understand you
know that there's a lot of that
controversy I guess or discomfort that
can happen with it but I think all I can
share with you is my experience and what
I believe and how its enriched my life
and I think everyone that's watching
this going back to what I was saying you
know this video probably wouldn't
resonate with me back then because I was
at that stage in my life and I think as
I matured and evolved I started to look
at my life in different ways and had
certain experiences that led me to God
and I think everyone has their own
journey you know it's not something that
you can really force on someone I can
share my testimony my experience but I
think if you're watching this and you
maybe are a little bit open-minded I I'd
say just to explore your your own
spirituality you know go deeper into it
go to different churches and and read
different texts of Bible Quran whatever
it might be and just explore question
things you know don't just believe
things blindly either you know for me I
I question things a lot and then I go
and I try to find the answers to it or
try to understand things a little bit
more but I think coming at life I guess
from a place of an open mind because no
one ever really knows everything there's
no evidence to support all you know
everything I look at the Bible and all
these things and as the evidence to
support my beliefs but there's also that
personal experience that you have that
you can't that it defies logic you know
it defies science you can't really
describe what your personal experiences
and there might not be science to
support it there's miracles and things
that happen and occur that there's no
explanation for so what I would say and
maybe a message in this video is to
explore your faith and explore life and
explore
everything and come to your own
conclusions and beliefs and find
whatever that serves and supports and
empowers you for me it's it's going
through Christ and you know I remember
reading and if by the way if you want to
explore Christianity I recommend picking
up a Bible and the first gospel that I
would read to be the Gospel of John
which is the story of Jesus Christ and
for me it really moved me when I started
going deeper into it and you know I
remember at one point Peter and Jesus
were having a conversation and Peter was
asking certain famous and Jesus had said
that I am the way the life and the truth
and for me that hit me hard those words
that I've been looking for the way and
everything in self-development and and
business and this this and this and the
way all along for me has been Jesus and
it's most often the last place that I
was looking and what's changed in my
life is that's where I go first that's
the most important relationship and part
of my life and it's the foundation for
everything else that I do and experience
in my life so for me when I read the
Gospel of John and I started exploring
other parts of the Bible that hit me and
resonated with me that that's the way
and that's filled that void I can
honestly say it's filled that void
within myself in the ways that nothing
else could so I think we all have to
have our own experience I say have an
open mind be open to learning and
exploring different things and I think
you can eventually find what your truth
and what your experiences and what
resonates the most with you so my
friends I want to say thank you so much
for watching this I really you know
respect you so much for being here and
hopefully you know I know there's people
that judge and criticize and hopefully
you're not that you know I I try to be
non-judgmental and open to every
everyone and everyone what they have to
say an experience and their their
personal experience rather but I know
that there's some people will I know
some people this is not an easy topic
you know the easy path is to not even do
a video like this but I felt like you
know I'm not here on this life to do
what's easy and difficult I'm here to
share things that have enriched my life
and if it again enriches yours then
that's amazing and if not that's okay
too but I disrespect you just for having
an open mind and be willing to watch
this video
and to hear what I have to share on this
topic and you know again this is not a
religious Channel or anything like that
and I'm not a perfect Christian I swear
one snow pile and you know sometimes do
get off-track but I just try to you know
get back on track and try to be humble
and ask God for help and to guide me to
be the best version of myself and so I'm
very just very grateful to have this
opportunity to share this part of my
life with you and for you to be open to
hearing it so my friends I want to say
thank you so much for being here for you
know watching a video like this if you
enjoyed it give it a thumbs up subscribe
for more and I want to say God bless you
talk to you again soon take care
you
