Thanksgiving Pies Around The US #Tasty Food

Thanksgiving Pies Around The US  #Tasty Food

Thanksgiving Pies Around The US

you see that's crazy of my family
Thanksgiving is one of my favorites and
this pie will always be there nobody
does it quite like we do hi my name is
Aaron Vance lemon and today I'm gonna be
making my grandfather's recipe for
blueberry tapioca pie tapioca and this
recipe is being used as a thickener some
people might use corn starch or other
ingredients but definitely in the
Midwest we use tapioca this pie I
originally heard from my grandfather he
would make this pie every year for my
dad's birthday he would wake up at 6
a.m. to come and bring this pie to my
dad so for lucky enough we'll be able to
pick fresh blueberries since Michigan is
known for its wild blueberries and
everyone will hold them for the summer
months knowing that we're gonna want
them for Thanksgiving I just have to try
one you have to make sure it's good
first when I was too young to bake I
would just sit at the kitchen table and
wait until my sister or my dad or
whoever else was making it would turn
their back and I'd grab a few blue areas
just in case so usually if you have
extra crust left over me and my sisters
would take that extra crust and cut a B
out of it for my dad's name berry or you
know also for blueberry pie because my
grandfather would always take the crust
and poke holes in it so that it made his
initials hi is always a staple for
Thanksgiving and it's a real tradition
in my family even if my sister's have
all moved and I've left we always come
back for the holidays and we know we can
gather around food and this pie will
always be there

mmm-hmm just like how my grandfather
used to make it hi my name is Bianca
Lambert and I am cooking my aunt
Vivian's sweet potato pie my honors the
only person in our family that still
bakes sweets she's the only person
that's kind of carried this recipe over
from my grandmother and just kind of
passed down those southern roots so the
way that you will know your potatoes are
done you just kind of give it a little
poke or a little stab that's how you
know that it's ready I grew up in
Atlanta and my parents are from this
town and Alabama called Monroeville so
Thanksgiving Christmas like whatever
holiday you can think of we were drive
down well my grandma I remember like she
would just always have all this food and
she didn't have a lot of money and all
that but you could guarantee that there
was going to be a spread everything that
you ever wanted she knew all your
favorites and that was her way of
showing love and I feel like that is
what southern cooking is all about it's
just a way to show love and give back to
your family in a different kind of way
I'll say this I'm always looking forward
to this pie for Thanksgiving and
Christmas
I might even volunteer to make the sweet
potato pie this year
nobody's probably gonna let me do it
though or don't let me do like one and
then she'll do
anybody makes anything good like if you
know something's really good thank you
me it just goes so if you don't get to
that pie before it's gone forget about
it yeah you better get it with me and
people I mean we do share it's very much
about community but people like what
they like we all know each other's
favorite so yeah once it's gone
that's it this is just one of my
all-time favorites it's the thing I can
eat I mean I could eat a whole pie by
myself so my aunt surprised me by
letting me know that she uses lemon
extract and the sweet potato pie when
she said it I was like is she making a
mistake but it's been perfect for years
so I'm sure she knows what she's talking
about here's a B I don't think anyone
can cook sweet potato pie like anybody
in my family nobody does it quite like
we do I hate so all the aunties and
grandmas and people out there like you
guys are amazing
and I just think we're all partial to
our families cooking Thanksgiving for us
is just like the best time of the year
it's probably my favorite holiday just
because there's so much about family and
food and eating and just having a good
time it tastes so good
no it's gonna be super proud my name is
Brendan Dahl and today I am making my
mom's amazing pumpkin pie it is my
favorite thing in the entire world my
mom is always the one who makes the pies
for Thanksgiving 100% we are allowed in
the kitchen honestly everyone kind of
congregates in the kitchen in part
because it smells so good but also
because that's where my mom is so I
talked to her and keep her company while
she makes us delicious fish
this is my grandmother's pie dough
recipe so the whole pumpkin pie recipe
is actually I say it's my mom's or
really it's her mother's it's not super
complicated and its ingredients but it's
a very dense spicy pie which i think is
like maybe a little more old-fashioned
it's a very very old family recipe I'm
from Arkansas and I do feel like pumpkin
pie is popular there
but there's kind of a big division
there's pumpkin-pie people and there's
pecan pie people and we say pecan not
pecan there are two distinct camps
honestly my mom makes both but the
pumpkin is like the star and the pecan
pie is for like the other folks I don't
want to imagine a life without pumpkin
pie this pumpkin pie it is a holiday
staple but honestly like living I live
across the country from my mom and our
whole family is really spread apart so
even when we go back random times during
the year like if I go back in April I
get pumpkin pie if I go back anytime I
get pumpkin pie it's definitely the main
comfort food that like makes me feel
like I'm home and like I don't feel like
I'm officially home until I've had this
pumpkin pie regardless of what time of
year it is I would like to say that we
like chip in like oh my mom makes the
pies but like I have an amazing
casserole or something but I I bring
nothing to the table literally I like
Thanksgiving a lot actually
I love holidays but I'm not someone who
gets like really obsessive over holidays
but for me Thanksgiving is one of my
favorites because it's so food based
anytime you have a lot of food I'm down
to be there so Thanksgiving is probably
my favorite holiday because like you
know that the meals gonna be on point
typically I celebrate Thanksgiving with
my mom and my my brother Chris if he can
make it we don't really have that big of
a family I'm in California my brothers
in Texas have another brother in
Kentucky and it's just been hard the
last few years to actually get everyone
together so some years it's just me and
my mom some years it's like you know a
couple of us or a couple extra like some
cousins here and there but we're a
pretty small group making this pie is
definitely bringing back some nostalgia
because it's actually been a couple
years since I've gotten to go home for
Thanksgiving I'm not sure I realized how
homesick for this pie I was and homesick
in general this is a nice treat honestly
of all the Thanksgiving foods really all
holiday foods regardless of holiday this
is kind of like the big one this is the
one mainstay like on Thanksgiving or
Christmas or whatever sometimes we'll
have like hey
instead of Turkey or this instead of
that but the one thing that never
changes is pumpkin pie well it even
smells perfect it's the perfect pie it's
absolutely perfect
I'm ray Pilar and today I'm making my
Thai tea pie when I first brought the
pie out to Thanksgiving my family was
like really surprised that you could get
Thai tea into a pie flavour and since
then it's been one of those things that
my family just expects me to bring to
Thanksgiving every year so my
sister-in-law will bring to traditional
pies apple or pecan or strawberry and
then I'll be in charge of the to Thai
tea pies which usually goes by faster
compared to the other pies since again
it's not something that you would be
able to get at your local Thai store
Thanksgiving that's crazy at my family
because it's like loud there's a lot of
us with a family hashtag my last name is
Pilar so we had at ey so it's party cuz
there's so many of us that we had a hard
time getting photos whenever we would
take like a group photo or any kind of
photo during a party so we just made the
hashtag so that you could look it up and
find the photo online but now it's just
become like a fun thing so my family
came out to California in the 1980s the
family was still relatively small and it
was just my mom my dad my like six older
half siblings and as the years grew and
as we all became adults everyone brought
something to the table so the table just
got bigger what was originally probably
close to a traditional Thanksgiving
became something that is pretty much a
giant Thanksgiving party it's like now
we can't really fit into one table but
we'll fit into one house as we all get
older everyone brings something new so
if I show it up to Thanksgiving without
a pie specifically this tightiy pie they
would put me in the kitchen and make
this pie the first year that I actually
made this pie I've made one tightiy pie
and then I also made an Earl Grey pie my
family liked the Earl Grey pie but it
just wasn't as
popular compared to the Thai tea party
and what I found was like blunt enough
that they'll be like this was good but
it's not great we'll just get two of the
Thai tea flies instead of a royal grape
I the amount of people that we do have
over for Thanksgiving someone is always
bound to forget something since I'm
traveling over there I don't really end
up forgetting a pie or anything but
there have been years where we would
forget like the lumpia someone would
forget the rice someone would forget the
mashed potatoes with big families you
have to move fast if you're gonna hope
that someone's gonna save you a a slice
of a pie or a piece of a cake sucks for
you because not everyone's gonna say
that my favorite way to serve the Thai
tea pie is to give it a nice healthy
dollop of fresh whipped cream just
because it ties it all together and it
looks really pretty
I love sharing with my family but this
one is all mine

Spanish (auto-generated)
hey y'all Oh weird all right hello
everybody no hey oh I'm Vaughn
I am a tasty show producer and I'm gonna
show you why I love making mesmerizing
dessert videos strawberry cheesecake
macarons was really like my first big
video here at tasty I was a French and
film double major so this is really like
literally the perfect job for me I've
always taken a really strong liking to
desserts in general I worked at a bakery
after I graduated from college
I've always loved Lucky's emphases and
so I applied for this job at tasty and
was so nervous because I was like this
is the perfect job for me I have to get
it and when you apply for a job at tasty
they ask you to make a top-down food
video and I think that I should make a
matcha ginger citrus macaron which is
like the craziest flavor combination
that no one on tasty or none of our
tasty audience would really like or get
unless they were like taste Japan or
something I saved all of my macarons and
I actually brought them into my
in-person interview they were like this
kid is the biggest suck-up of all time
like who is he and then they tasted my
macarons they were like actually these
are pretty good we should give him a
second chance
and thankfully they did give me a second
chance and I knew when I started here
that I had to make a macaron video so
what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna try to
find a flavor combination that the
Tastee audience is gonna like strawberry
cheesecake so on top of this crazy
flavor combination I really want to make
them look swirl like a strawberry
cheesecake so what I did was I combined
the two colors of better and I piped
both of those into a bigger piping bag
and then I swirled them around and
people were watching me in the taste
studio like what the hell is this kid
doing I didn't have them taste
yet because I wanted to like save them
all for the end and then they tasted the
macarons I passed them out and that was
really like my first time where I felt
validated almost in the tasty studio it
was a really gratifying feeling and then
when the video came out like a week
later I remember being on a plane from
DC and I saw that the video went up I
was like okay I gotta turn my phone off
I'm on a plane flew back landed in New
York City and it had like 10 million
views when I heard that I was like yes
this is awesome this is like the HAI
that you get when you make a viral video
was really like my first time where I
felt like this is where I meant to be I
know that this is gonna be a place that
I'm at for a long time and we ate
macarons for like four weeks after that
because I made like 150 of them when I
started as a tasty producer we had to
make to one pot recipes and then our
third video had to be like a mashup I
really wanted to make a dessert because
I love sweets and a huge sweet tooth it
was wintertime so I was feeling
something swore Z s'mores a word I was
like I want to make something
s'mores flavored and I wanted to be good
for a party so I came up with his wacky
idea of s'mores cheesecake pops when I
first tested this recipe out I made my
no-bake cheesecake base and then I
rolled a whole bunch of marshmallows and
when you're making a tasty video
you're not exactly able to cook your
recipe all the way through without
stopping because you have to like change
your camera's change your lenses get
different angles from the side so I go
and I get the marshmallows out of the
oven
and then I'm like oh wait I have to do
my graham cracker base so I make my
graham cracker base and then I go to put
my marshmallows into the batter and
they're like brick salad I ended up
having to do more marshmallows and then
because the marshmallows were so hot it
made my batter soupy and I was like what
the hell is going on so I learned from
my mistakes and I left the broiled
marshmallows cool for three to four
minutes I just had to get like really
fun with those chocolate dipping shots
because there's absolutely nothing
sexier than beautiful shots of melted
chocolate it ended up tasting like
toasted marshmallow cheesecake which was
awesome tasty 101 is really really near
and dear to my heart
my boss was essentially like we don't
have anybody doing just YouTube videos
we've tried out a couple of things on
YouTube but you really want a dedicated
team of producers to just play around
with different long-form recipe videos
long-form content in general for a
YouTube audience and we were thinking
about shows it was a no-brainer
tasty 101 had to be one of our shows
everybody knew it people loved Claire's
voice we had a new person in LA Alexis
who was also really gifted with recipes
and had a great voice as well people
really loved Claire's voice it's really
just another flavor enhancer so when we
were thinking about a first season of
tasty one a wonder if he really brought
what do people really need to know about
I quickly learned that making long-form
content especially tasty 101 is a whole
different ballgame than just like your
normal recipe video they require a lot
of planning a lot of recipe development
because what we're putting out there is
what we think the tasties perfect recipe
for something is so Claire and I took a
couple days to come up with like the
perfect recipe for a pound cake we made
all these like tarts and muffins and we
had some like class some that we made
and things like that and we just like
had
smorgasbord of desserts out on this
table in making that video I just
remember like having so much fun with
playing around with those beauty shots
getting those kind of cool cushions and
flyover shots and like really showcasing
how sexy desserts can be we're able to
really highlight the most amazing
aspects of one thing and make it look
incredible
so when we're thinking about season two
I was like look one of my passions in
life is decorating cake and I love
decorating cake I personally will spend
like hours on my phone at night when I'm
trying to go to sleep watching cake
decorating videos on Instagram it's like
an actual problem but I really want to
do a five beautiful ways to decorate
cakes ideo because it's something that
people love watching we need to
capitalize on this so Claire and I came
into the taste of studio one morning and
what started off is like a cake
decorating video with just a few tips
and tricks quickly turned into like a
we're gonna make five unreal cakes
Claire and I'm like we're pulling our
hair out and about to pull each other's
hair out for this video but by the end
when we were going through and doing
like the voiceover and everything we
were like wow this was so much fun and
this is something that we're pretty good
at so we're gonna continue to do this
which is why when season three came
about we were like alright gotta do
desserts again
let's do brownies I worked with one of
our recipe developers sue and we just
made like eight batches of brownies one
day and it was the best day of my whole
entire life because we were just eating
brownies all day long that's really the
best part about being a tasty producer
is that you
all day long when we do a tasty 101
video it's always kind of like what is
that one crazy technique that people are
gonna go and watch this video and be
like whoa that is a cool thing that I've
never seen before we both remember this
recipe where a baker like takes the pan
of brownies and just whacks it against
the table halfway through baking turns
the sheet of brownies around and puts it
back in the oven so it gets like that
nice crackly top keeps them really
really moist but not dense like these
are literally the best brownies I've
ever had in my whole entire life and I
can firmly say that the people of
BuzzFeed New York who got to try these
brownies said the exact same thing in
tasty 101 - what I love is that I was
able to use a lot nicer cameras and I
was able to showcase what I could do in
terms of like slow motion filming and
flyover shots and everything like that
which really inspired me and I think
that that's one of the big reasons why
we made made by hand tasty is made by
hand is a very artistic look and insight
into how everyday people make something
by hand exacting that human emotion
exacting that human condition from the
passion that somebody has when they make
thing thousands of times every single
day and then came Asian Pacific American
Heritage Month
yeah a pan I wanted personally to do
this tea house in New York that I had
been to before what really drew me to
that was they had these really
traditional Japanese tea cakes and
pastries but then they also had this
really cool modern take on pastries as
well and I thought that that was perfect
way to showcase the juxtaposition
between the old and the new when I dug a
little deeper and I liked when there to
talk to the people who owned it I found
out that not only was it like a
completely family-run business but it
was also like women doing these
incredible things and I was like this is
perfect
I am so into it when I graduated from
school I moved to Thailand for like
seven months to teach English and my
favorite thing to do after school would
be to play badminton with my students
and then I would go and get like an iced
americano and a little matcha tea cake
from the cafe across the street when I
went to the tea house here in New York
really brought back those memories for
me and that was when I was kind of like
food is a memory every single flavor
every single taste every single
ingredient that you've ever experienced
is and can be tied to a specific moment
in your life and I think that that
emotion was something that was super
touching to me when I went there and I
just got this rush of nostalgia and I
think that that's something that was
really cool with that video was that we
were able to learn that food is more
about just the way something tastes or
the way something looks it's about the
story behind it from there we saw that
people seem to really like the human
element behind all of these stories I've
gotten to meet and talk to these amazing
people that have dedicated their lives
to making one thing it's really special
to see someone with a passion so deep
and so ingrained in themselves that
they're committing their whole entire
lives to perfecting one craft I think
that that's what really resonates with
our audience the most is that like food
is inherently connected to memories when
I get in the kitchen and bake something
I'm automatically brought back to my
childhood getting up on like a rainy
Saturday morning and baking with my mom
and my grandma in the kitchen I've had a
lot of life experiences you know I've
lived in three different countries
I moved up to New York City when I was
23 without a job living in this tiny
cramped apartment and it was negative
ten degrees in January that's like the
time in my life that's connected most to
like instant ramen no I'm sure when I go
out and I film a mesmerising dessert
video I don't just go and say like okay
I'm gonna set the camera here and I'm
just gonna let it roll our food and the
way that we showcase food is done from
that human perspective and we try to
always
how is this gonna make something feel
when we put it down
I always try to think about how is
something gonna play into not just the
overall video but like the psychology of
the video how is that gonna make you as
a viewer feel when you see this 70 year
old woman who's dedicated her life to
making mochi and honestly that's the
coolest part of my job is seeing in the
comments and getting direct messages of
like hey I saw your brownie video I made
your brownie recipe I loved it
I'm gonna put pretzels on top of it and
bring it to my cookie swap this money as
the most gratifying thing is to be able
to see like the fruits of our labor or
in my case the cakes of our labor that
was really dumb

hey y'all Oh weird all right hello
everybody no hey oh I'm Vaughn
I am a tasty show producer and I'm gonna
show you why I love making mesmerizing
dessert videos strawberry cheesecake
macarons was really like my first big
video here at tasty I was a French and
film double major so this is really like
literally the perfect job for me I've
always taken a really strong liking to
desserts in general I worked at a bakery
after I graduated from college
I've always loved Lucky's emphases and
so I applied for this job at tasty and
was so nervous because I was like this
is the perfect job for me I have to get
it and when you apply for a job at tasty
they ask you to make a top-down food
video and I think that I should make a
matcha ginger citrus macaron which is
like the craziest flavor combination
that no one on tasty or none of our
tasty audience would really like or get
unless they were like taste Japan or
something I saved all of my macarons and
I actually brought them into my
in-person interview they were like this
kid is the biggest suck-up of all time
like who is he and then they tasted my
macarons they were like actually these
are pretty good we should give him a
second chance
and thankfully they did give me a second
chance and I knew when I started here
that I had to make a macaron video so
what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna try to
find a flavor combination that the
Tastee audience is gonna like strawberry
cheesecake so on top of this crazy
flavor combination I really want to make
them look swirl like a strawberry
cheesecake so what I did was I combined
the two colors of better and I piped
both of those into a bigger piping bag
and then I swirled them around and
people were watching me in the taste
studio like what the hell is this kid
doing I didn't have them taste
yet because I wanted to like save them
all for the end and then they tasted the
macarons I passed them out and that was
really like my first time where I felt
validated almost in the tasty studio it
was a really gratifying feeling and then
when the video came out like a week
later I remember being on a plane from
DC and I saw that the video went up I
was like okay I gotta turn my phone off
I'm on a plane flew back landed in New
York City and it had like 10 million
views when I heard that I was like yes
this is awesome this is like the HAI
that you get when you make a viral video
was really like my first time where I
felt like this is where I meant to be I
know that this is gonna be a place that
I'm at for a long time and we ate
macarons for like four weeks after that
because I made like 150 of them when I
started as a tasty producer we had to
make to one pot recipes and then our
third video had to be like a mashup I
really wanted to make a dessert because
I love sweets and a huge sweet tooth it
was wintertime so I was feeling
something swore Z s'mores a word I was
like I want to make something
s'mores flavored and I wanted to be good
for a party so I came up with his wacky
idea of s'mores cheesecake pops when I
first tested this recipe out I made my
no-bake cheesecake base and then I
rolled a whole bunch of marshmallows and
when you're making a tasty video
you're not exactly able to cook your
recipe all the way through without
stopping because you have to like change
your camera's change your lenses get
different angles from the side so I go
and I get the marshmallows out of the
oven
and then I'm like oh wait I have to do
my graham cracker base so I make my
graham cracker base and then I go to put
my marshmallows into the batter and
they're like brick salad I ended up
having to do more marshmallows and then
because the marshmallows were so hot it
made my batter soupy and I was like what
the hell is going on so I learned from
my mistakes and I left the broiled
marshmallows cool for three to four
minutes I just had to get like really
fun with those chocolate dipping shots
because there's absolutely nothing
sexier than beautiful shots of melted
chocolate it ended up tasting like
toasted marshmallow cheesecake which was
awesome tasty 101 is really really near
and dear to my heart
my boss was essentially like we don't
have anybody doing just YouTube videos
we've tried out a couple of things on
YouTube but you really want a dedicated
team of producers to just play around
with different long-form recipe videos
long-form content in general for a
YouTube audience and we were thinking
about shows it was a no-brainer
tasty 101 had to be one of our shows
everybody knew it people loved Claire's
voice we had a new person in LA Alexis
who was also really gifted with recipes
and had a great voice as well people
really loved Claire's voice it's really
just another flavor enhancer so when we
were thinking about a first season of
tasty one a wonder if he really brought
what do people really need to know about
I quickly learned that making long-form
content especially tasty 101 is a whole
different ballgame than just like your
normal recipe video they require a lot
of planning a lot of recipe development
because what we're putting out there is
what we think the tasties perfect recipe
for something is so Claire and I took a
couple days to come up with like the
perfect recipe for a pound cake we made
all these like tarts and muffins and we
had some like class some that we made
and things like that and we just like
had
smorgasbord of desserts out on this
table in making that video I just
remember like having so much fun with
playing around with those beauty shots
getting those kind of cool cushions and
flyover shots and like really showcasing
how sexy desserts can be we're able to
really highlight the most amazing
aspects of one thing and make it look
incredible
so when we're thinking about season two
I was like look one of my passions in
life is decorating cake and I love
decorating cake I personally will spend
like hours on my phone at night when I'm
trying to go to sleep watching cake
decorating videos on Instagram it's like
an actual problem but I really want to
do a five beautiful ways to decorate
cakes ideo because it's something that
people love watching we need to
capitalize on this so Claire and I came
into the taste of studio one morning and
what started off is like a cake
decorating video with just a few tips
and tricks quickly turned into like a
we're gonna make five unreal cakes
Claire and I'm like we're pulling our
hair out and about to pull each other's
hair out for this video but by the end
when we were going through and doing
like the voiceover and everything we
were like wow this was so much fun and
this is something that we're pretty good
at so we're gonna continue to do this
which is why when season three came
about we were like alright gotta do
desserts again
let's do brownies I worked with one of
our recipe developers sue and we just
made like eight batches of brownies one
day and it was the best day of my whole
entire life because we were just eating
brownies all day long that's really the
best part about being a tasty producer
is that you
all day long when we do a tasty 101
video it's always kind of like what is
that one crazy technique that people are
gonna go and watch this video and be
like whoa that is a cool thing that I've
never seen before we both remember this
recipe where a baker like takes the pan
of brownies and just whacks it against
the table halfway through baking turns
the sheet of brownies around and puts it
back in the oven so it gets like that
nice crackly top keeps them really
really moist but not dense like these
are literally the best brownies I've
ever had in my whole entire life and I
can firmly say that the people of
BuzzFeed New York who got to try these
brownies said the exact same thing in
tasty 101 - what I love is that I was
able to use a lot nicer cameras and I
was able to showcase what I could do in
terms of like slow motion filming and
flyover shots and everything like that
which really inspired me and I think
that that's one of the big reasons why
we made made by hand tasty is made by
hand is a very artistic look and insight
into how everyday people make something
by hand exacting that human emotion
exacting that human condition from the
passion that somebody has when they make
thing thousands of times every single
day and then came Asian Pacific American
Heritage Month
yeah a pan I wanted personally to do
this tea house in New York that I had
been to before what really drew me to
that was they had these really
traditional Japanese tea cakes and
pastries but then they also had this
really cool modern take on pastries as
well and I thought that that was perfect
way to showcase the juxtaposition
between the old and the new when I dug a
little deeper and I liked when there to
talk to the people who owned it I found
out that not only was it like a
completely family-run business but it
was also like women doing these
incredible things and I was like this is
perfect
I am so into it when I graduated from
school I moved to Thailand for like
seven months to teach English and my
favorite thing to do after school would
be to play badminton with my students
and then I would go and get like an iced
americano and a little matcha tea cake
from the cafe across the street when I
went to the tea house here in New York
really brought back those memories for
me and that was when I was kind of like
food is a memory every single flavor
every single taste every single
ingredient that you've ever experienced
is and can be tied to a specific moment
in your life and I think that that
emotion was something that was super
touching to me when I went there and I
just got this rush of nostalgia and I
think that that's something that was
really cool with that video was that we
were able to learn that food is more
about just the way something tastes or
the way something looks it's about the
story behind it from there we saw that
people seem to really like the human
element behind all of these stories I've
gotten to meet and talk to these amazing
people that have dedicated their lives
to making one thing it's really special
to see someone with a passion so deep
and so ingrained in themselves that
they're committing their whole entire
lives to perfecting one craft I think
that that's what really resonates with
our audience the most is that like food
is inherently connected to memories when
I get in the kitchen and bake something
I'm automatically brought back to my
childhood getting up on like a rainy

vhi I'm RIA and this is my recipe for old
crab cake so a few years ago there was a
trend where you roll up apple slices
onto a pastry and made a little turret
so I was wondering if there was anything
I could make that would look pretty like
that and I came up with this idea using
crepes instead of Pesce I wasn't sure if
it's gonna walk first but I tried it
anyways and when I think of crepes my
favorite feeling it's strawberry and
whipped cream so instead of apples I
decided to use strawberries the
important thing about making crepes is
wasted dough for at least 30 minutes
because we are mixing with milk and
flour which creates gluten and if you
don't want to make chewy and rubbery
crepes if you want you can also rest in
overnight and make it the next day
I chose cream cheese filling because
it's a little thicker so easy to work
with you are ending up making a bunch of
crepes for this recipe and that will
take time but I also think it's fun as
well so I tested this and made a pretty
small version that was really really
cute but when I make the tart I usually
want to share so I don't want to make it
just for myself when you're making at
home it's a little bit messy because
you're spreading cream onto the crepe
and rolling it up but it's what's there
for and most a man because it's really
pretty and I'm sure whoever you're going
to give it to will be super impressed
make sure to cut the strawberry it's
very thin it's similar to a crepe cake
because it's layered about just a
different presentation because the
crepes are vertical instead of fries on
top
so instead of stopping making small
little tart I was just kept rolling and
rolling and rolling and I ended up
making a large crepe cake
I think rolling it up it's the most fun
and difficult particles it's kind of
like building a snowman it's the same
cake all the way through it just gets
bigger also after you make this roll the
crepe a big enough then you can start
laying it on the side instead of rolling
then what you end up with it's a super
pretty roll of crepes all standing up
with strawberry it's kind of looking
like a flower which is why I call this a
rose crepe cake this is the perfect
dessert to bring down afternoon people
ready or just to make reads your friends
sometime I was filming this recipe late
and I because I wasn't sure if it's
gonna work so I was kind of testing and
shooting at the same time and Alex and
Scott was also shooting Leigh and I so
we shared together and both of them are
super impressed so this recipe it's
something I'm really proud of because
I've never seen this type of cake before
so I would like you to make it and I
also want you to proud of it
thank you for watching see you next time
