Video demo: Facebook platform for mobile # facebook ads

Wondering how to use Facebook platform for mobile? Check out this demo for more on connecting people with your brand across any device.

hi my name is yonatan madness and i'm a
product marketing manager here at
facebook i'm going to tell you
everything you need to know about our
new mobile platform facebook platform
for mobile facebook platform for mobile
is a key technology that enables more
connections anywhere anytime with
facebook platform for mobile there are
two types of apps that users can access
the first one is mobile web apps and
essentially anything that is created
with html5 can be a part of that so
we're talking about an html5 canvas apps
or a web app that's just a web app in
itself a website or it could also be an
html5 tab the second category is native
applications and these applications are
downloaded onto the phone as a marketer
what you care about is helping your
users share the word about your
application with their friends and the
great thing about facebook platform for
mobile is it helps you to do that
whether you are a developer of a web app
or a native app and get the word out
there using notification newsfeed or
timeline to spread the word right within
Facebook in turn this translates to more
traffic more discovery and better
engagement let me tell you first about
mobile web apps one of the great things
about mobile web apps is that they are
accessible regardless of platform so a
user can interact with them whether they
are on the desktop or on their phone on
their mobile device this in turn means
for marketers that they can get good
experience across device and seamless
continuous interaction with their users
to get started with mobile web apps all
you need to do is build an html5 version
of your application if you're not we
have a great resource center dedicated
to html5 it will walk you along the way
the second thing you'd want to do is
register your URL for this new html5
application you're building with our dev
site and once again we have step-by-step
instructions how to do that let me start
with our first demo of a mobile web app
audio room let's say that one of my
friend just sent me a request from audio
of room to check out this new app I'm
going to click on it here at the top and
then I can find out more about their
application and the first time I use the
application a permission dialog will
appear the type and number of
permissions will vary based on the app
and so only in the first time that I
actually log in I will need to go to
this permissions process so in this case
after i log in i'm asked for three
additional permission items and i'm
going to allow all of them and go
directly to the application and there we
go I mean the app and I can start
listening to music right away and so
here I'm going to listen to one of the
songs on my station so this is a pretty
cool song and let's say I really loved
it and want to let people know i'm going
to press love here and then i'm going to
post it back to my timeline now all of
my friends can see this song i like and
discover audio room and so now the song
can be seen on my timeline and all of my
friends can click through it and right
there wherever they are get to audio of
room in the future if i want to find all
your room on my phone it's really easy i
can just go to that bookmark section of
facebook and find a bookmark for it
another easy way to do it is to simply
search for the application and it will
appear as one of the top few results
there we go one click and I can start
playing my music again let's talk about
native applications on facebook platform
for mobile native applications are the
type of applications you typically
download and launch from your home
screen on your mobile device like the
iphone now with facebook platform for
mobile these applications can also be
accessed from within facebook this
interns mean that these applications can
now benefit from all the connections and
social discovery mechanism that Facebook
provides what you'd like to make sure
for your native apps is that they're
integrated with our latest version of
single sign-on this means that when a
user clicks on your application they see
a single permission dialog only once and
they do not have to type in the full
username and password just a single
click and boom there there at your
application so now you have it this is
how it works for both native and web app
and we are super excited to see how this
product is going to help both users and
marketers build-essential connections
across any device
you
