This Letter from a Fan Though... (Our WHY as Entrepreneurs)

Now speaking of reading, I wanted to open this letter
and read it to you, it's from a guy named Mike in Australia.
I get a lot of fan mail, which is really awesome,
it's one of my favorite things to do is to weekly go to
my UPS box, get my fan mail and read it.
It really reminds me why I do what I do and you've probably
seen scenes from my studio office tour of thank you notes
and things at home, where I keep track
and just use this as inspiration for me.
But this letter really spoke to me.
By the way I'll put an address below in the description
if you ever wanted to send me something too.
But my goal in business is to help you out so much
that you will want to write me a thank you note.
So that's kind of my gauge for my approach with business.
It's like, can I help you so much
can I help change your life in a way that you would wanna
write me a thank you note.
So hopefully if I haven't earned one from you yet
maybe one day in the future.
Alright, this is from Mike in Australia,
the accent is so bad.
Alright I'm gonna read this to you.
It says, "Good day Pat, today I began my 56th year
on this planet and it's fitting I write to you today
and thank you for your enormous contribution
to my previous year," his 55th.
"On October 25th, 2017 I was studying
environmental science degree at a university in Australia
and failed chemistry twice,
I decided to take a break and then you appeared."
Just like poof (chuckles).
"I stumbled upon smart passive income
now my working life involves time
as real estate investment advisor and financial advisor.
However, by purchasing PUP," which is power up podcasting,
my course, "and also doing all of your free courses,
I've been able to begin a new career in publishing
and broadcasting."
So then he goes, "I love your approach to business
via helping others but moreover I adore how you actually
deliver your intention by really helping people.
Ask Pat and SPI, my two pod cast
are weekly must do's for me.
I've recorded my fourth episode of
Happy, Sober and Frikkin Awesome and soon I will be
receiving payments from my course and book sales."
That's awesome.
"Finally, thank you Pat for being you
and helping my 55th year be so amazing, let it continue..."
(stutters) Looks like subtly.
- [Man] Successfully?
- No, suchly!
"Let it continue suchly for both of us."
Thank you Mike, "and hopefully we meet in San Diego soon,
love always Mike."
And there's a little picture of his family in here too
that he included.
This is why I do what I do,
I'm just trying to encourage you,
I know the numbers are important, I know;
looking at your conversion rates and your traffic
and your email subscribers and your followers
and your likes and your comments and all those things.
Those are important right, you want engagement.
But when it comes to
actually building a successful business,
obviously you wanna help people.
And I wanna encourage you to help people so much
that you can't help but receive letters like this too.
And it really doesn't matter what you're doing.
I started receiving letters like this
when I was helping people pass the architectural exam
that I help taught which is called the lead exam.
It's like this woman named Jackie who sent me a letter
where she said at the end she was a super fan of me
for helping her pass an exam.
I didn't quite understand that but later
after having conversations with her I realized
that by helping her pass this exam,
I was able to help her get a promotion
and help her get a raise and she took a vacation
with her family that she wasn't able to take before
because of that and she attributed
to me helping her pass this exam.
So she's like Pat, I'm a super fan of yours
and I was like, okay that's cool but I didn't really know
what that meant until I later found
that she was recommending my exam guide
to every single person in her office.
She had it as a resource that was required
for people studying for this exam.
And she could have just shared this guide
with all of her friends for free
but she had people pay for it
because she wanted to pay me back.
And that's really the power of super fans.
And so I'd encourage you to try and build
super fan experiences; moments in the life of your customer
that'll have them always coming back,
always recommending it and hopefully get to a point
where they would love to write you a letter
to thank you for all the stuff that you've done for them.
Don't be a suckly business owner.
Maybe that didn't make sense but what makes sense is Mike,
thank you so much for taking the time to send this message
to me all the way across the ocean and into my hands
and into the ears and eyes of those
who are watching this right now.
I'm just trying to spread love here, appreciate you all.

my goal is to get to a point where you wanna
one day write me a letter too.

And you know what, yes this is not trackable,
this is not something you can go and go like
well I got five letters last year so $5000 which means
if I get 10 letters I'm gonna get 10.
It doesn't work like that.
But what works is when you help out so much
and you care about people this much as a by product,
your business will grow, you will become successful,
you will find the answers to help people solve problems
and you will win.

I am a fan of Aaron Rogers, I shook his hand once,
I still have yet to wash that hand.
